“I stumbled upon this place the other day feeling sick and trying to drive home to Georgia. While there, I realized I was too ill to keep driving (food poisoning, y’all.) I told the woman behind the counter what was going on, and she was so kind to me. She took down my information and let me leave my car overnight so that my husband could come get me and bring me home. She suggested I park my car under the light pole for safety and told me to come back inside if I needed anything while waiting for my husband. I don’t often leave reviews, but I just felt like this place deserved a shoutout. I really appreciate the kindness from a stranger and will make it a point to patronize this place in the future since it is run by such nice people. To the woman who helped me (I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name): THANK YOU!”

“We were near empty on gas headed up the mountain to Black Balsam Knob, and this was the closest station on the way back down. Eternally grateful to the man who attends this station for staying open past his listed hours because if he hadn't that night, we would have been sleeping on the side of the road in the wilderness without cell signal.”

“If you're anywhere between Cashiers and Brevard, you know choices of "dining out" are not plentiful! When I stopped in at the (literal) market around the corner to grab soup (or anything I didn't have to cook), I glanced over at the little addition to the side of the Sapphire Country Store - and by golly it was open! When I looked at the brief but well-rounded menu, I knew the soup was a goner. So I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken, and 2 sides - green beans and mashed potatoes w/gravy. First of all - the chicken was plump and juicy, with plenty of meat for 2 people; the potatoes were REAL, with some small skin-on chunks that gave it texture, and a touch of gravy; and finally green beans (which I personally don't like, but I could tell they were the kind Grandma makes - the short flat ones. I got it to go in under 5 minutes - made it home in under 3 minutes - and split the chicken and taters w/husband (I joyfully gave him all the beans). Well, the presentation was surpassed by the taste. I've had plenty of rotisserie chickens from plenty of places, and I think this might be the best tasting one ever! It was moist w/o being soggy or greasy, and the flavor was not confined to the skin - it went through and through. There was enough chicken for 2 hungry old people! Now I would have liked the sides to have been bigger (to match the chicken, of course), because it was a stretch to split the potatoes but I reluctantly shared. He enjoyed all the beans, and said he couldn't decide which was better of the 3 items! The price was a bit steep if you were feeding 1 person, but when you get 2 meals outta 1, it's a bargain. No leftovers, though so if you're counting on that, better buy two! The young man behind the counter was friendly, efficient, and I told him the only thing that would improve it would be to offer breakfast. He replied "yes Ma'am, we'll be starting that tomorrow or Sunday!" Well I can guarantee you we'll be giving it a try tomorrow or Sunday! I only wish they'd open at 5:00 so I could grab breakfast on my way to school, but 6:30 is reasonable for most folks, I guess. Breakfast rolls into lunch, which rolls into dinner - if there's any left, I guess! So if you're out and about anytime between sunrise and bedtime - I highly recommend stopping in at the Sapphire Country Store (technically, "Jim's Place" - just to the left). They've got some tables so you can sit and eat, or take it home. I plan to encourage my fellow educators to give it a try on the next workday that rolls around. We love our other local establishments, too, but happy to add another choice to the menu, as it were! Keep it up, Jim!”

“This store has all you need, especially if you are looking for a quick in and out trip. The workers are always kind and do anything they can to help. The store is clean and fully stocked. I 100% recommend checking this store out as your 1st stop. Definitely beats out The Store (Queens) and the Dollar General any day!”
