“In mid Nov 2023, I llocated AGC Electronics via the internet who diagnosed my 2013 vintage Sony Home Theatre System that could not play any media requiring replacement of the built-in Bluray disc drive. AGC advised they could not source the replacement part through their established channels in Canada but may available in the US and would provide the labour to do the replacement. AGC kindly provided part information to me and hold onto my system to let me source the required part. Initially, I located a similar unused Open Box Disc Drive on eBay in the USA and with the help of my brother in the USA who reshipped directly to AGC that arrived in mid Dec, 2023. Due to Sony's confusing part number system, this part was incompatible with my system. On Dec 16, 2023, I finally located the exact REFURBISHED part in the US from AVSYSTEMPARTS who confirmed in writing that their parts are pre-tested fully functional by their technicians before I made the purchase to be shipped DIRECTLY to AGC by them to be installed. AGC did WARNED me about using refurbished parts at the time but due to sentimental reasons, I still chose to have the system repaired. AVSYSTEMPARTS charged once for part cost + US delivery with another to cover INTERNATIONAL shipping premium. On Jan 5, 2024, I drove from Toronto to pick up the system along with the defective part removed from the system at AGC and found that it can only play original CD & DVD but not any original regular/3D Bluray media which clearly indicates the installation completed by AGC is perfect otherwise the system would not play any type of media. This is the point where the nightmare started as I immediately reported this issue with AVSYSTEMPARTS on Jan 7, 2024 well within their stated warranty period over multiple email communications during a 2 week period without taking any responsibility aside from insinuating fraud. AVSYSTEMPARTS wanted me to take another 2 hour return drive to AGC and pay another labour charge to take a picture of their supplied part indicating their seal on the disc drive had not been tampered with. Alternately, they asked me to open up the system at my home BREAKING any seal that AGC may have placed to protect their workmanship before AVSYSTEMPARTS will issue an RMA and resend a replacement that will further entail more travel costs and labour installation charges. It seems that AVSYSTEMPARTS expect their seal to be honoured while seal by other professional service centres can/shall be broken at will. AVSYSTEMPARTS also insisted that their only offer to resolve their quality control issue/burden placed and threaten upon me ON CONDITION that I do not dispute these transactions to PAYPAL Resolution Centre. At this point, I submitted my disputes for this situation with PAYPAL through their PAYPAL Resolution Centre along with all supporting documentation especially important independent professional attestation provided by AGC through multiple appeals. On Feb 22, 2024, PAYPAL ultimately ruled my appeals in my favour and refunded the full amount of the TWO paypal transactions covering all part and shipping charges under their Buyer's Protection Program on the basis that the USED part sold by AVSYSTEMPARTS is SIGNIFICANTLY NOT AS DESCRIBED (SNAD) and AVSYSTEMPARTS failed to provide any documentation that their part had been tampered with and/or altered while in either my or AGC's possession with no requirement/request to return the defective part sold by AVSYSTEMPARTS. Meanwhile, I also requested a MasterCard Chargeback against these two AVSYSTEMPARTS transactions processed through PAYPAL via Bank of Montreal who advised that the chargeback against the international shipping premium could not be processed as the vendor had actually shipped the product. Hence it is best to have any purchase to include ALL charges in ONE Credit Card transaction.Finally, I must thank AGC for their integrity, honesty dedicated professional service and support and all the extra efforts beyond normal in assisting with my PAYPAL claims over a very low cost diagnostic/”
