I went in to see about my hedgehogs eye on Saturday. The tech was nice, I did the paperwork, typical vet visit. All was going well, but when I met Dr. West. She did not even look at my hedgehogs eye. She IMMEDITLY said they were going to sedate her to look at her eye and for a potential mouth ulcer, but my baby has been eating and breathing fine. My hedgehogs eye has not been bothering her, it just looked slightly different than normal and I wanted a second opinion.I was not thrilled with Dr. West wanting to sedate my hedgehog immediately, but I asked for a cost estimate. When the tech came back with a cost estimate for everything, he said that she would need a cream/ointment. If they knew if my hedgehog was going to need the ointment AFTER the sedation and eye stain, why should I pay for that? When asking the tech the name of the ointment, Dr. West interrupted him and said "I am sorry, we can not provide you any medical advice." I left.My hedgehog also left a mess on their counter, when I asked for something to clean it with, nothing was brought to me so I had to leave it there.I looked back at older reviews for this place and another woman had a similar experience too. I am also a college student and this other review reflects my experience. Below is a quote of the other client's review. I hate that we had similar experiences, but I am glad I am not the only one to have had this experience."I left very frustrated because I felt chastised for choosing not to sedate my hedgehog. A) I'm a student and don't want to double my vet bill. (I will say it was nice of them to give quotes as they went instead of being surprised at the end of the visit). B) She has never been sedated before and has never needed to be sedated, even for ear swabs. C) At this point in a diagnosis, it seems unnecessary to check in her mouth for a tumor when an ear infection has not been ruled out and no meds have been tested to fix the issue after an ear infection was determined WITHOUT needing sedation. The fact that it was pushed on me so much after I had already said no made me really uncomfortable. There was also no explanation about what the sedation process is and what the after effects are, even as I expressed that it made me nervous to think about sedating her. As an owner, I want to be informed of absolutely everything that is going on. Further, I felt extremely stressed when my pet was taken out of the room for an exam after having been judged for not wanting sedation."

Staff was pretty friendly but I would recommend getting a second opinion before getting work done here.I went in to get my cat spayed and they said she had a life threatening disease without any testing that costed thousands to cure. However, she was at a different vet days prior to be checked for the disease and they said she didn’t have it, they did an ultrasound. So I took my cat to the vet she was at couple of days ago and they did blood work to make sure, and she didn’t have the disease. They were able to do a spay with no problems. I do believe the staff cares about animals and just wanted to help my baby, but a second opinion never hurts.

Dr West and her staff are awesome! My guinea pig stopped eating due to dental issues. I had a terrible time finding a vet who saw guinea pigs in my area. Tuskegee and auburn universities couldn't schedule him for over a week. All creatures were able to see him the next day. Dr. West got his teeth floated and took care of some other issues he had going. He did have some problems with his gut after anathesia (which can happen. Some piggies do ok and others dont) but she put him right away on meds to help that and he is doing great now!! I am so grateful to her and her staff!

Great staff who took excellent care of my sick bearded dragon. They also give you an estimated cost of service before doing any testing or treatments so there is no shocking cost when you pay, and the prices were very reasonable especially for my exotic pet

I've been taking my dog here for years and they've always done a great job. The staff are very kind and knowledgeable. After my dog had surgery, they called to check up on her. After one surgery, my dog had some complications and Dr. West met me on a Sunday to help. Overall a great vet and I can't recommend them enough.

Excellent exotic vet. We travel from about 45 min away for this clinic for our rabbit. Doc and staff are knowledgeable and give you straight up info with no fillers. She saved our sweet buns life from a massive ear infection that he had when we got him.

Dr. Kim West has been our family veterinarian for many years. She is always so kind and professional, caring for all of our animals from hamsters and snakes, to a sugar glider and bunny. She recently provided end of life care for our son’s long-term service dog. She handled the situation with love and compassion, walking us through a terribly difficult time. We love Dr. West and All Creatures Veterinary Clinic!

I never leave reviews but this place had horrible staff! The vet was kind, but her assistants (I wish I could remember the blond one’s name!) were so rude and only spoke about pricing. My bunny was dying, and they were so cold all the way up until they saw me really upset- then they acted slightly better. If you’re in this industry, you are not meant to be in it solely for the money but for kindness and helpfulness that you are providing to others in need! Patients are already going through a difficult time seeing their beloved pets in a hard situation. So for future reference, please be better! Definitely go to Auburn University!! It’s worth the wait.
