Dr. Stark is the absolute best veterinarian around. The employees there treat the animals like their own. Best place to get the care your pet needs.

Dr. Stark and her staff took care of my 2 kitties for 10 years, and I really can't say enough to how grateful I am to them. It's apparent through her actions and demeanor that Dr. Stark loves and cares for every animal that she treats on a personal level. Her empathy and compassion are unparalleled. The staff has always been kind, caring, and gentle. I am so grateful for everything they've done for me and my babies. You really can't find a better Doctor for your little furry loved ones.

I’ve used Dr Stark for decades. She works hard to take care of your pets.

I can confidently say that this is the worst experience we’ve ever had with a vet. It was clear to me that Dr. Stark and staff do not use any techniques to calm a stressed animal, and they only escalated my dog’s anxiety during his exam. I’ve never had any issue with my dog having anxiety during a vet exam, but forcing an 85 pound dog up onto the exam table when he’s clearly extremely uncomfortable is unacceptable. If a vet cannot bend down to the floor to meet the need of her clients then maybe it is time to retire. Nothing was clearly explained to us, I felt unheard during my pet’s visit, and I can confidently say we will never be back. I had to ask Dr. Stark several times to end the exam so that we could leave. I easily applied my dog’s ear ointment at home with zero issues after she could not do so in the office. I was actually shocked to have a negative experience after reading so many positive reviews. Everyone has bad days, but the fact that my dog was so nervous in their care told me everything I needed to know about this place.

The staff at South Shades Crest are fantastic. They took my dog in quickly for an appointment when my vet had nothing and would not try to squeeze him in. The receptionist, tech and Dr. Stark were great. They were welcoming and helped to calm my nerves. They answered my calls and questions when I had concerns after the appointment. They helped put my mind at ease. They have gained a new client. Thank you.

I have recently moved out of state, but the 8 years that I have used Dr. Stark to care for my dogs have been incredible. She's not only professional and knowledgable, but she truly cares about your pet and will always do what's in their best interest. I'm 3 hours away now and wish it were easy to make the trip over when our pups needed care. There's no one better!

One star only because I can't give zero. *** ***** ************* * ****** *** *** * ****** ***** *** *** ***** * **** *** **** *** ** ********** **** ** ********* **** *** *** ******* ****** ******* * *** ******* ** ****** ** **** ********** in favor of Doc's expertise and knowledge. Until now. I brought my oldest cat in for some skin issues and she was given steroids that suppressed her immune system and allowed a virus she was carrying to reinfect. She had antibiotics that cleared it up but not before my second eldest cat caught the virus. So I bring Meme in to Doc and get the same antibiotics. I express that my youngest cat will probably get it because he's not vaccinated and I'm told I'll have to bring him in once he's sick. I have paid for two visits now and the current situation is happening because I wasn't warned that my cat could get sick from going to the vet to get better. (Sounds backwards right?) Now that my youngest cat is sick, I called hoping to get a THIRD bottle of clavamox. I'm told I have to bring him in for an exam and pay another $*** in total. I understand an exam is necessary but when your clinic causes this outbreak and you won't even waive the exam fee for the THIRD cat for the EXACT SAME ISSUE as the other two I call ********. No compassion, no amount of compromise. And they expected us to bring in all three for vaccines (for an outbreak they caused) after we spend hundreds trying to keep our babies healthy and happy. These are not outdoor cats, and Pip has never had an outbreak before. This is not neglect of the owner. This is neglect of the vet. I shouldn't feel like I'm fighting the doctor to keep my cats healthy. It's very obvious that Doctor Stark cares more about money than animal wellbeing or customer loyalty. She will value your money over your pet's life, every time.

Dr. Stark cares more about making money than she does about helping animals

One star only because I can't give zero. I'm truly disappointed. I worked for Doc a couple years ago for about a year and left due to harassment from my coworkers that Doc did nothing about. However I was willing to ignore my work experience in favor of Doc's expertise and knowledge. Until now. Myself and my husband have been using South Shades Crest ever since we got our Bear boy back in 2019, I took him here due to I had just gotten him and didn’t have a vet yet and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. 3 years later we now have Bear, Merle, Buster, and Ducky. Dr. Stark is not only professional she goes beyond and above for all of our fur babies. She’s always very thorough and can explain everything to us without us being confused. Not only is she great at her job, she actually has a heart and compassion for every animal she treats. From the time you walk in for your appointment til the time you leave or pick up your baby you can just feel the love and positivity from her and her staff. All of my dogs actually get excited even if they are sick when we pull up in the parking lot. Her staff is always kind and so sweet and understanding as well. We absolutely love SSCAC and would recommend to anyone looking for a new veterinarian.

Love, love, love Dr. Stark! We just got a new puppy after not having a dog for about six years. Dr. Stark has been our Vet since 2000, with our first dog Cinnamon. Skylar is the third dog she has taken care of for us. Our last dog, Rusty, had pancreatitis and died when he was 8 years old. Dr. Stark had him at her office trying to keep him comfortable. I learned that she was so concerned about him, she returned in the middle of the night to check on him. He passed away the following morning.I absolutely recommend South Shades Crest Animal Clinic if you live in the Hoover, Alabama area.

I found South Shades Animal Clinic on a Google search one day when I had to take our dog to a vet last minute. We have been here 3 times now, and every time has been a 5-star visit! They have fit us into their schedule the same day I called to make the appointment all 3 times, and all of their staff is so sweet and helpful every time.
