“I love to shop Publix's BOGO items. The shelves had areas where products listed as BOGO were empty. I haven't experienced that at any other Publix. When we were ready to checkout, there was only one line open for those with more than 10 items, but there were 2 open (and empty) for 10 items or less. The line for more than 10 items was LONG. They did finally open a second line but the two "less than 10 items" didnt move.”
“I love aldi for easy no frills quick trips. I can't stand going in Kroger or Wal-Mart these days. Too many "shoppers" with the oversize racks in the way of ACTUAL shoppers. Plus aldi aisles are spaced far apart and the prices are 100% better.”
“Great prices. Friendly people. Both customers and cashiers were polite and courteous. I found good deals on things I was actually there for anyway. There were about 60 people in the store the night before a winter storm and none of them were bulk buying or acting crazy. Will be back again for sure.”
“I like shopping here over Publix sometimes, just gives you that oldtime grocery store feeling, that Kroger or Publix just can't offer. Plus the people here are super nice and friendly. Though selection of some things isn't the greatest.”
“Hidden down a hallway on the back of La Monarca Supermarket in Decatur, Alabama is a small taqueria that is producing some truly wonderful tacos and other Mexican favorites. I entered the supermarket and saw a crudely made sign that said taqueria and entered a hallway with another sign that said taqueria with an arrow pointing me further down the hall. It led me to a simple room with a few tables and a smiling woman sitting at a cash register. The room was a bit spartan, but I always have said that the best Mexican food comes from these humble little mom-and-pop type places and not some plave heavy on atmosphere and ambiance. This place had cheap tables, but pleasant (though cheap) prints hanging on the wall. I took a menu and found a table. The woman came and with the same pleasant smile, she said she spoke very little English. I smiled and said I spoke very little Spanish. I was able to order with no problem by pointing at the menu. I ended up ordering five tacos. I ordered chorizo, asada, carnitas, cabeza and barbacoa. They brought me very good bean dip and tortilla chips to start with. The tacos were very good, as well. They brought a red sauce and green sauce with the tacos and both were good, though the green was pretty impressive. All in all, this was a great experience and if you find yourself in Decatur, Alabama, I would definitely recommend here.”
“This place has the best street tacos I've ever had in my entire lifetime. I would definitely go back if I lived in the area or whenever I am traveling through. I highly recommend their tacos on Tuesday. If you're in the area you have to try this place out if you like Mexican food.”
“A big store with lots of variety. I perceive prices to be a little higher than other stores in the area, but by paying attention to sales you keep to your budget. I like that I can almost always find anything I'm looking for in this store.”
