The park was clean and nice with acceptable bathrooms except no hot water. The sites are packed in tighter than average. It is a long winding road up to the park so probably not great for larger RVs. One of the park rangers was very rude to us when she needed to move her vehicle so we could get turned around in their parking lot. They had a nice camp store.

The veiws are beautiful. The hiking is nice and adventurous. You explore more if you wander off the path a little. The sunset was peaceful and amazing.Playground: There's a playground for kids in the park where the tent ⛺️ camping is available.Restrooms: These were tricky there were restrioms at Bald rock but doors locked, the restrooms at the main store were okay but in mid day be prepared to wait it gets busy, we left the park and went to the lake to use the restroom there due to the long line in the Main store. Later in the evening, we discover a restroom in the middle of tent camping!Dog-friendliness: There were plenty of dogs here, and all were on a leash.Picnic area: We discovered a picnic area right after the main gate at a little garden. Other than that, we decided to eat at the top of the mountain ⛰️.

The highest point in Alabama, Cheaha Mountain, is more than 2400 feet above sea level. It is Alabama's most breathtaking location. There are countless possibilities for activities for everyone to enjoy.

Great place to hike and sight see. Tent camping used to be amazing, but it's become more regulated in recent years. Many better Alabama parks to camp at.

Super easy stroll through the woods to a nice look outpoint. This trail is definitely safe for anyone needing a wheelchair or for anyone who has any physical limitations that would prevent most hikes.

Cheaha was very beautiful. Going camping at the semi-primitive sites was a great experience and romantic, especially during the less active weekdays. Even the trails we walked weren't very occupied besides the boardwalk. The campsites had a grill and fire pit as well as benches. We did a lot of cooking. There are many scenic spots and unique experiences. It felt great to move around and be active and in nature. It was such a blessing and a good break from everyday life, and I'd love to go back.Playground: The playground is cute. I went up the equipment for fun. There was a swing set and a slide among other things. The gravel was soft and crumbly. One section at the top was roped off despite having steps below for safety reasons (I assume). There were picnic benches further down, too. I think kids would enjoy itRestrooms: The restrooms were pretty well maintained near the campsite. It drizzled one of the days we stayed, and there was a little leak inside as a result, but the water drained out. There's a heater inside, too! There are bugs inside, but not many, and none interfered with using the toilet. It was a surprisingly nice restroom. :) The Bald Rock one was also nice. There wasn't a heater, but it did its job and was clean.

Second time I've been here, first time I rented a cabin the power went out and they said there was nothing they could do about it, understandable. That night a rat came in and ate all of our groceries. never gave us our money back or try to rectify the situation. Decided to try it again, specifically ask for a room with an east facing view to watch the sunrise and now I sit in a room looking at the parking lot. Do not come here, it is beautiful to visit but don't give them your money.

For camping and views Cheaha is great. It has primitive camping, cabins to rent, chateaus, and a motel. I have tent camped and stayed in the motel and the only downside was the age of the building. They recently closed the restaurant which makes me sad, they turned it into an event center but I understand it must have been tough keeping a restaurant open atop a mountain State Park. The lake and playground are fun for the kids and they do have educational tours

The perfect season to visit - Autumn. If you're a veteran entrance to the park is free! Outstanding views! It's still about 2 weeks before foliage is painting a beautiful canvas to behold. Took my Daughter's Siberian Husky around the the 2.5 mile loop; walking of course. It's an excellent day trip from central/north Alabama and west Georgia. Saw a lot of Florida tags, too. Well worth the drive.Dog-friendliness: Dogs on leash are welcome almost everywhere.

Well it's absolutely beautiful! But for a RVer it's unnerving. Low braches, which one was launched in a vent pulling out of our site at less than 10 mph, uneven site that we tried moving several times, husband is a on the road truck driver for 34 yrs , and frankly office young girls were rude at check in. So probably won't bother returning on our next trip this way. But it is pretty, well kept, and beautiful weather.

Amazing Magical place to visit! And the best part for sure it's the trail to Pulpit rock! Seems like a really advance difficult trail but it's easy to moderate 0.6 miles distance back and forward, totally totally worth it to go and have the views ! Loved it loved it!Restrooms: Nice and clean bathrooms at the Souvenir shopDog-friendliness: I don't have a dog but you can see plenty of doggies walking with their families!Picnic area: A lot of picnic areas

What an amazing, scenic place to visit! We took a day trip here and immedaitely felt in love with the location. It's home to the highest point in Alabama. There are several cabins, chalets, and even a hotel and restaurant. It was only $5 entry to get in per adult. The drive wasn't too bad from Birmingham. About 1 hour and 30ish minutes or so. Around 97 miles I believe is what we traveled. Everyone was very friendly who we met. The gal at the gate welcomed us and told us everything we needed to know to have a wonderful and safe trip. The little hiking trails were very scenic, and shockingly my allergies weren't triggered LOL. There is a tiny store or 'food mart' that offers things like bread, sandwiches, eggs, as well as some cool handy dandy gadgets and oddities. It was one of the most healing outdoor trips I've had in a while, and I can't wait to go back. The cabins and chalets aren't expensive and they give you several options. I can't wait to update my review with information about those. If you need a good little get away, this is probably the place for you. They also have a swimming pool opened during warm hours that appeared very clean, and also had an amazing few of thousands of feet below outside of the gate. It was so serene.

The Hotel and Chalets are nice looking imbedded within the forest and mountains.Playground: The playgrounds are near the pavilions and open picnic areas.Restrooms: Maintained nice for a state park. They are are also close to the playgrounds and picnic pavilions.Picnic area: Lots of picnic areas up around the tower and Bald Rock. Some covered and some not.

Beautiful and well kept park. We stayed at the upper campground and they maintain and clean the bathrooms often. Highly recommend for a day trip or camping trip.
