The storage unit itself is good and I haven’t had any issues with the facility. However, the pricing is a major drawback. I’ve had my unit a little over two years. It started at $77/month and has increased by more than $40 each year, putting it about $59/month higher than the current average in the Foley area.
When I asked about the large price hikes, they stated that rates are simply rising in the local market—but still refused to offer any kind of adjustment or discount. From what I’ve found, the average cost for a similar unit in Foley is around $100/month.
The bottom line: do your own research before renting here. The service is fine, but the pricing policy makes it hard to recommend SmartStop.
