5925 Grand Bay Wilmer Rd S
Grand Bay, AL really needs to do some employee training for the lady with the tongue piercing. The interaction I just had and the combative vibe she just put off to me is completely unacceptable.
I politely asked her not to even ring me up if the items advertised as 50% off were not going to ring up correctly. There were signs all over the table saying 50% off but their excuse was “the sale was over but they were going to adjust.” I was made to feel like it was my fault and my stupidity that I got to the register with a buggy full of stuff and expected it to ring up as advertised!
This is inappropriate and disrespectful. If it was going to cause her to react in such a defensive rude manner she could have easily accepted my request to just not ring anything else up and I would’ve moved along. Instead I was put in a very embarrassing situation which caused me to have to stand there and go over my purchases with a line filling up behind me. With an argumentative employee who was very plainly angry !

Horrible dollar general. The shelves are never stocked and most of the workers are either outside smoking cigarettes or standing around talking to other people. Theirs always boxes in the middle of the aisles.

The only real good thing that I can possibly say about the one on Grand Bay Wilmer is that it is localized.. I live about 3 mi away from the dollar store so it is convenient for a snack or a Coke but it's not really convenient if that's the only place to get food from around without having to drive all the way into Theodore to Walmart or Rouses, or into town to Greer's. While I do say that it is the only place to get food from around there is the country corner like right beside it but it's a lot more expensive and it still is a convenience store where they sell just about the same stuff as the dollar store does. So like I said as far as a snack or drink they have it but don't go in there thinking that it's a grocery store because it's not.. most of the time they don't have stuff like mayonnaise or peanut butter or meat (they're really lacking on condiments). They have stuff like bread and fish sticks french fries and chicken patties and maybe one or 3 types of beer which is Corona Blue Moon and Coors(not to be rude but it's only really good if
you're a Mexican because those are really the type of people who go in there buying beer/Corona as far as beer goes nobody around really has enough money to buy good beer anyways apparently).. as far as the cashiers go they're always really friendly but there have been some "characters" (let's just say you really get to know the people working there since you do just live 3 mi away from the store) working in there before and even now. Also watch out for people dumpster diving because people sometimes do it frequently there for small stuff like electronics or books, I'm not going to throw names out because I know the people doing it anyways. They are friendly though and I guess depending on who you are from the area that it won't bother you. I'm only ratings two stars for the friendliness and the location being convenient but it's not really convenient for anything good or that of quality

It's a dollar general. It's good for quick in/out shopping, especially if there isn't another store close by.Check your prices carefully if you are going to shop at one regularly. Pay close attention to product sizes v.s. product size. What seems like a good deal might not be. Oftentimes you can get a better deal by driving a few miles further.All that being said, if you need something quick, especially snacks or maybe that one ingredient you forget, these stores can save you a trip.They do carry some brands that aren't regularly found in major stores, so you might find something you particularly like.OTC meds are easy to find here, unless they are sold out, which seems pretty common lately.
