This place is an absolute waste of space and electricity being open. They hardly have what we need; even a simple, basic item like sugar.
When they do have what we need to buy, you have to go hunting through the store to find an employee to ring you up!
The blue lights on the building are super odd and out-of-place as well. They don't aid in sight or security in the evenings. It's one mile from us and we will drive to the next location further from us, or the competitor down the road, instead of stopping here.
I generally would not bother to leave a review for a Dollar General of all places, unless it was truly a convenience. Instead, it is horrendous and I can only hope the owner or manager will see this and realize changes need to be made.

I waited 10 minutes for a cashier to come to the front, the self checkout being closed. I didn't mind, and it wasn't a big deal. However, the cashier was very aggressive when she did not hear me return her hello. She angrily and very loudly said HELLO!?!?! I looked up from my wallet, and she was giving me these wild, evil eyes. I was scared she was about to fight me or something. I said, "oh, did you not hear me?". She looked away, gave me my receipt, and I left. The whole thing was very bizarre. Happened on 4/5/24 at 8:30am. White lady with brunette hair. Kinda scared to go back.

This dollar general is severely unorganized and dirty. The ladies bathroom had black shoe marks on the toilet seat and there were no paper towels. They had no bottled water and no gum. Everything was understocked and looked poorly managed.

Spacious with a good selection of stuffs, but the store was somewhat messy overall. Kind of gave that thrift store vibe. For some reason during our visit it seemed really dark inside. The employee that checked us out was friendly and efficient, though.

I am very aware of and thankful for the many conveniences that we have in this country. I'm not spoiled, and know firsthand the many constraints certain corners of the world endure. However, this review is from the perspective of Madison County, Alabama. Disclaimer-I enjoy shopping local when I can. Dollar general is definitely not "local," but sometimes it is about convenience and what's available. I've been to this store several times when small local can't help me. This evening I needed some things that either warranted a trip to the big box store down the road, or... I could make a quick stop close to home. The staff is extremely friendly and happy to be here. They simply do not have enough people working here! We all understand the need to stock. Every store that ever was has this need if they are in business. Customers generally expect stocking activities to be an active process-- people working in that area. I need to stock items is a great problem to have. However, this store was a wreck! Understaffed.

The lady at the front register was rude. I was asking her a question and she responded with an attitude. She was also side eyeing my little sister and I when we were paying at the register. I understand you want to get off or you just had a bad day but you don’t take it out on customers who are being polite to you and genuinely need your help.

Does Chestnut have any organization everybody just playing around there like a bunch of Fish Out of Water and Sheldon are organized I wouldn't recommend it if you want to go in and look for something that you'll be on the same shelf as like milk should be the same refrigerator has to have gotten milk always on the other end of the dam store
