I reserved a car at the Hoover, Alabama location and upon arriving was told that they had no cars to give me. It was pretty much "OH WELL".There should've been an attempt to have a vehicle available knowing they had a reservation for that morning; or at least a courtesy call letting me know they wouldn't have a car available so that I could make other arrangements.It's unfortunate that customer service is dead.

Horrible! I will never rent from hertz again. I booked my reservation on Expedia last week. We arrive this morning at our scheduled time and they told us they didn’t have any cars available. Didn’t get a call, email, nothing! Just wasted the first part of our morning and now have to figure out how to get another car. Ridiculous! There needs to be protocols in place for when things like this happen.

Rented car through insurance for over a month and manager was very rude and negative. Would never use Hertz for rentals again.

I made a reservation for Friday am at 8 am several days in advance. After waiting in line about 15 minutes, they told me that they were still waiting for cars and didn’t have one for me and they would unlikely have one that day. I understand things happen but there was no communication that they could not fulfill the reservation. Very disappointing.

I had made a reservation, I took an Uber there, first I was told that they didn’t have a car for me. I told them that I’d be happy to wait until they found the car I reserved. Then they said they had a car but my credit union VISA was not accepted. They also stated that they reject people who use their AAA discount, I took an Uber home and had no car that I had already reserved.BBB website says there have been 5,987 complaints in last 3 years. That’s 6 BBB complaints a DAY.Another women came to the office as I was leaving, her car was reserved at 1, she was their early and was literally LOCKED out because the guy their said they don’t do reservations after 1. This place is an embarrassment to Hertz, to the community and to anyone who has worked in customer service. Even the Uber driver said that most of the people she picks up there were told Hurtz had no car even though they reserved a car.

Scamming people. Taking reservations and only giving cars to people who would pay extra. Cars are available and parked in the lot. Can’t believe hertz and BBb is allowing this location to be in business.

Unfortunately my experience was with the roadside assistance group but this is the only place to leave a review. From the looks of the feedback from the company on other reviews any action they take to correct is just talk but here we go anyway….I rented a car for a work trip to New Orleans. Midway through my stay I got a call that my grandmother was dying and that I needed to get home as quickly as possible. My drive would be 4 hrs to get home. About 20 minutes down the road I got a flat. I was able to get to a gas station but the tire was done. I was in a very rural, bad part of Louisiana with my phone battery dying so I called roadside assistance. They offered to call a tow but it was going to be 2 hrs before the tow could get there and then I wasn’t guaranteed to get another car that day. I explained my situation and asked if they could just send someone with another car to pick me up so I could get on the road. They said “you don’t qualify for that level of service”. I literally begged and told them my grandmother was dying and they still said I didn’t qualify because my car was mechanically drivable. Wow… that’s a terrible wording at the very least. Definitely don’t say that to someone in a crisis situation when they are scared and stressed. On top of that, there was no spare or the standard fix a flat in the car that the manual said should be there. I took a picture of the trunk where all of the standard equipment was missing. They were going to charge me $250 for the tow alone. I found a pep boys 5 miles away that said they could replace the tire and get me on the road in 30 minutes. Then the woman on the phone tells me to “keep your receipt so they don’t try to charge you again for a new tire”. Not keep your receipt so the company can reimburse you.I rent a car from hertz almost weekly but will not be using them ever again.I would truly like to be writing this review to say that Hertz is a wonderful company that goes above and beyond to help their clients in a crisis situation. Unfortunately, this company only sees the people they put in their cars as a case number.

Shawn was the rudest and told me two different things at two different times. I booked a car a week in advance and wasn't given a car. She told me that they gave my car away the first time and would call me when the next came in. Never called me back. My father called to check when I got tied up at work 2 hours later. Put him on hold for 30 minutes and never came came back to the phone. I called two hours later and she told me they never had a car for me and that they show available because they hop they are brought back. Told me they haven't had any returns at all today. I'm very confused. Did I every have a car? Your app says 7 available. If you haven't had any returns and can't rent out of an empty lot then why put someone on hold for 30 minutes? Hertz really put my family in a world of "hertz" since your word is not your word.

My experience with this company was laughable, disrespectful, and unprofessional.I booked my vehicle two days in advance of pick up window. I arrived early just in case their were any complications. Turns out the sight had no vehicles available to rent out on the day of pick up eventhough I had a reservation booked. Then the male employee refused to help me find a workaround the issue and just handed me a brochure with the customer service number circled on it. No call to another branch to see if they could accommodate my booking at all. No insight on canceling my booking before my pick up window was due. Not even a courtesy call to explain the situation and recommend the aforementioned workarounds. The male employee just deferred his JOB over to me, the customer, to do the work for him with no insight on who to call or speak to. I asked him for the corporate number so I could get I touch with someone to help. He denied any knowing of any corporate contact number.I understand help is hard to find these days but this experience was outright and completely ridiculous.

SAVE YOURSELF - DON'T USE THIS BRANCH!!!I went to this location and off first hand, I was treated so poorly. The guy greeted me as if he didn't want to see me there at all. He had an attitude the entire time, and any questions that I had, he would laugh and shake his head, being condescending and rude. Second, they gave me the car on a quarter tank. Third, the car they gave me on the inside smelled like FEET! The smell on the inside was so bad, that I could not drive it off of the parking lot. I called Enterprise right away! They new how to handle the situation and they are so used to complaints coming from this branch. I returned the car to Hertz and had Enterprise to pick me up. Boy, was that the best decision I ever made. GO ENTERPRISE all the way!! I was treated with respect and kindness at Enterprise.

Car was dirty when I picked it up. They rinsed it off. Car was still wet when picked up, when it dried there was dirt spots all over. The inside was clean. The car had a bad vibration in the front end. The need maintenance light was on. Just felt like the car was just return and no prep was done to it and it was given to me. I reserved the car a month in advance to insure I would get a car for the week of Thanksgiving.

These people are very racist i watched 2 families of colored people get a car while my wife waited 2 hours outside because they wouldnt let her sit inside everyone that works me and my wife are white and i watched another white guy be turned away but the other people that werent white were allowed to get a car im thinking of sueing for discrimination i want their jobs i want the business gone this place is not worth your time the people there are stupid and honestly i dont say this out of anger they literally dont know how to do their job they made my wife sit outside in the cold after they told her to wait for 2 hours after she had waited in the cold for a car they come out and tell her they dont have a car. This place needs to be shut down. I booked this appointment 2 weeks in advance.if i could give zero stars i would.

Booked a vehicle for the Hoover location. I called that morning to ask a question, no issues. When we showed up to get the car, I was informed that they "don't usually even carry" that car. They offered to upgrade for full price and would not offer any discount at all, even though it was 100% their fault and even had the opportunity to let me know when I called that morning. He was apathetic to the whole situation.Went to Enterprise down the road and they didn't have what we were looking for but upgraded FOR FREE. I won't use Hertz ever again and would suggest to anyone else that paying the little extra for Enterprise is worth the experience.
