Terrible place of business. Incompetent workers and they sell the ugliest items. Twice I’ve tried to donate brand new on trend items and twice I’ve noticed they don’t look everything. They just toss around the top items and take maybe 3 items for pennies. Do not donate here. It is a waste of your time.

All the people working there act like they’re doing you a favor, they’re rude and would get annoyed if you ask them anything, on top of that, their buying policy is absolutely absurd, I brought a bunch of brand clothes on perfect shape, and couple cheap shirts from online stores (SHEIN, Temu) and comically these were the only ones they bought.

if i could give them a 0 i would. my experience here was awful. so i brought in 6 bins of clothes which i know is a lot so i brought them an hour after they opened so that they had all day to do it. i looked around after taking my clothes and within 30 minutes i got a text saying they were done. i knew that was not right because they didn’t have time to even look through them. i went up there and they took 4 items… they said they couldn’t take the rest because of condition when a lot of them still had the tags or not being in style. i knew they didn’t look through them but when i brought them back to the car and seen they just grabbed a few off the top and didn’t even go through any of the bins i was very frustrated. we then took them to the one in trussville because we drove an hour to bring them and they took over 30 items!! so obviously there was nothing wrong with what we brought they just didn’t know because they didn’t even look. it’s ridiculous because that is their job. they were also very rude and not helpful whatsoever. i will never go back to this location

I took clothes a couple of times and they didn't even look at them. There was a girl in front of me that worked there and had brought some clothes in. They gave her 98.00.I Agee that the store has gone down and now I don't even want to shop there!!!!

I usually love this store but I have had the worst experience selling to this Plato’s closet. I have sold clothes here for years. I took a bunch of men’s items and didn’t except anything. They said somehow men’s polos are to mature. When they said men’s items are needed. The manager was the one being rude to me and my dad. I drove and hour to sell here. All they take is trashy clothes that only cost less than five dollars. They were also rude to few others that were selling and didn’t take and any of there items either. I will not be going to this Plato’s Closet anymore.

A JOKE!!!!I took name brand clothing without holes, rips, discoloration, some with tags ~ BRAND NEW. Plato or whatever your name is, took absolutely nothing from me. As I waited, I looked around only to find OLD, TORN CLOTHING!!I should have known that if I wouldn’t shop there that they definitely wouldn’t be giving me money for my clothing!!!YOUR A JOKE! I DO NOT RECOMMEND YOUR STORE TO ANYONE ESPECIALLY MY WORST ENEMY!!!!

Attempted to sell a full bag of nikes, vans, champion, and other name brand clothing that was not damaged at all. I got $5.20 cent back. These people are the GameStop of clothing. The only thing that they kept was a pajama top.

Used to love this Plato’s Closet, but it’s gone so down hill in the past 2 years. For starters the only clothes they accept are Shein and Boohoo fast fashion types and then charge $10 for the items when you can get them on the sites for $3-$4. This is absolutely absurd to me and on top of that, they sell items with tears, picked fabric and put stains, but will still turn down clothes in perfect condition. Secondly, their clothes drop off hours end at 7pm. When I went to drop off clothes to sell it was BEFORE 7pm and was turned away before I even came in the door. I opened the door and was told “Oh sorry, we’re not taking clothes anymore.” to which I responded “I thought the cut off time was 7pm like it said on your website?” and then was told “Well not today.” I found this very unprofessional as it says 7pm on the website which should be honored or at least posted on the door or something so that people don’t have to waste their time coming in just to be told to leave.

Plato’s Hoover is the worst Plato’s I’ve ever been to. Took brand new barely worn artitzia, Levi’s, and Abercrombie and was told there was dog hair all over it and there was just a “nasty odor” “smells like dog”. all of the clothes were freshly washed or never worn in the first place, there were a couple dog hairs on a few items because I have dogs so kinda hard to completely get rid of. Pissy attitudes from all the workers and honestly don’t even think they took the time to look at my items. Horrible customer service and such a waste of time. Don’t bother going to Hoover just take the time to go to trussville.

I will say that the store is clean, but as far as taking your good items to be bought here is definitely a lousy waste of time. I used to work for a different Plato’s a few years back (the one I worked at never stopped buying while open and they actually called you to tell you your order was done), so I know the process of what to buy/not to buy. I brought a ton of never worn, well taken care of boutique items, or items only worn like 2 times to them and they only took 8 think. The things they passed on? A nice Vera Bradley backpack that had no stains, 2 pairs of American Eagle jeans that I wore 2 times each, boutique shirts that had no stains, pulls, and I bought last year. I’ll just donate my items next time to save myself the time of driving 30 minutes here. Oh, and not to mention the time I drove here last week after work (5:00 I got to the store- online said they stopped buying at 7pm and the store closes at 9) only to be told they stopped buying for the day. Glad that the money I got covered the gas to get here 2 TIMES. Also, the employees NEVER smile or say hello. The girl who checked me out was nicer than the rest so I’ll give her that and hopefully she gets some recognition!

Customer service is piss poor, selling here is a slap in the face when they offer you $3 for items that ARE in season. Clothing department is not tailored for the average woman, nothing but a bunch of teenage forever 21/rue 21 clothes type of clothes. I'll travel to the trussville location before dealing with this location ever again.

These people are extremely rude and extremely entitled. They will speak to you as if you’re a 15-year-old child. I am always very professional, considering. I am a store manager over super target. I normally don’t come on here to make reviews, but the service I have received from the employees and the store owner is an absolute abomination. GO TO STYLE ONCORE

Platos Closet has great selection for sales. They are equally selective about the merchandise they collect. Customer service is professional. The young men and women there work there shape the atmosphere with consistent preparation and communication.

The only reason I selected one star service was due to the fact that I was a first time customer and wasn't greeted when I entered, so i didn't know how it worked. I stood directly in front of a sales associate about five minutes before she even looked up. She explained that you fill out a form and wait an hour for your items to be appraised, so it's not an "in and out" transaction, be prepared to wait if there are two customers in front of you. The appraisal wasn't done in front of me either, but I can tell you that they look up the current retail price, divide it by half and give you like 20% of it. Don't expect a ton of cash, but if there's something in your wardrobe you don't wear or need, it's quick gas money. If you have good, valuable clothes put them on FB market place, or offer up or something because there's no middle man trying to low ball you to make a profit. I was satisfied with the amount though.

Cute shoes, jackets and athletic wear- have had great luck shopping here. But unless you’re trying to sell bags full of perfectly folded (that they will just unfold and throw back in the bag) trend styles and brands, you’re probably better off donating and taking the tax write-off.
