Not enough people working for the amount of customers that were waiting to check in and out. We like the car we rented, it wasn't cleaned though.
When we lowered the seats to put our suitcases in the back, found an old premade salad bowl from a deli with dressing still in the bottom of it. I wonder why the car had a funky lemon smell, I thought it was the cleaner they used; but it was the lemon zing dressing fermented in the bottom of the bowl.
We febrezed the hell out of it and let the windows down for a few hours before we left to get the smell out.

My husband rented a car for a trip to D.C. for an event for our daughter. Unfortunately, the tire went flat on our day back home while on the interstate going 70 miles per hour. Thankfully no one was injured but it does make me question the maintenance protocols or lack thereof. Upon my husband renting the care it smelled like dog! I cleaned it and wiped it, placed air freshers, wiped the seats, dash, headrests, back trunk and handles down with wipes. I noticed it hadn’t been washed my husband felt that they may have been due to the urgency of the rental. However, I feel it was simply because they don’t have proper maintenance practices concerning their rentals. Hence causing the problems we endured. When such problems occur it really should be their responsibility to fix it.

I typically only rent through Avis. I originally had my reservation through the HSV airport location and I spent over an hour dealing with problem after problem. Ended up being late for my trip departure. When they told me I could try the University Dr. location I wasn't exactly excited to have to go to a whole different location after already paying for parking at the airport.
When I say I will ALWAYS come back to this location, I don't care what it takes. The employees were kind, helpful, knew what they were doing, answered all questions, got me in a great car, and made my trip completely comfortable as soon as I left there. I was on my way in less than 20 minutes.
I 1000% recommend this location. Some of the bad reviews I have seen for them seem to be due to ill prepared customers prior to their arrival. Everything about my experience with University was exactly what you would hope it would be when you're already dealing with the stress of getting out of town.
Thank y'all again. I WILL be back! They single handedly saved me from ending my customer relationship with Avis.

DO NOT BOOK AT THIS AVIS CAR RENTAL. I reserved a car thru Priceline to get pick up at 2:00 pm. I waited for 3 hours and was told to rebook my reservation with another car rental place because they have none available. This is unacceptable. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Reserved a car. Pay an Uber to get there and they say they have no car available.
Asked if I should wait and all they do is give you an attitude.

I made a reservation MONTHS in advance…when I got there they didn’t have any Elite SUVs….or any vehicles on the lot besides mini vans…extremely inconvenient, because they didn’t even call to let me know. So, just imagine my surprise at 5pm!
The avis employee informed us that people rent cars and continuously extend the rentals. He said he should have something turned in the following afternoon, but no guarantees.
Had to go to a completely different business and pay 1k for a rental. Needless to say, we won’t be back!
UPDATE: the owner replied to my review with an email address that was supposed to provide some type of help??
Sent the email with all of the information…such a waste of time. They’re unable to help or do anything. Basically, Avis isn’t in the customer service business…they give out more apologies than cars at this location.

I have rented a car and had no issues what so ever. I would definitely rent from this business again and refer others also. Friendly service and was very helpful and accommodating.

I just needed a car to drive outside Atlanta on a one way trip. Regardless what or why, is it too much to ask that the previous driver's garbage gets taken out? I'd think they could even do a quick vacuuming. I could barely see out of the windows because they were so filthy. It's hard to find a place that has window wash by the pumps! It was reasonably priced, but in all the times I've rented a car, this was one of the worst. If people at work have time to play games and/or bs on their phone, they need to have some pride in the job they have undertaken.

Christian at the University Drive location absolutely saved our day today. After 48 hours of busted travel plans, flying all the way from Denver because we reserved a car at the airport location, only for them to say “sorry we book reservations even when we don’t have cars. Nothing we can do about it” he managed to get us a ride home. He was professional and the first real help we’ve had from anybody in the travel industry during this nightmare. I would 100% recommend anybody that needs a car in Huntsville to come to this location.
