HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. There was going to be a wedding there on the day that we visited. We were told that there were two buildings that we couldn’t enter because of the wedding. That was fine but we were glared at in multiple other buildings because the wedding party was using them for something. We walked into one of the historic buildings to find the groomsmen in various stages of undress. The staff should have told us that we couldn’t go in at all or at least not charged us for the admission. When we said something to the person that sold us the tickets she just said that they should have put a sign on the door. Basically we paid to be treated rudely and not to be able to see anything

Went for the Wednesday Cocktails at The View. It's was a fantastic time with a great view. A table was reserved for $25, but it got a better and closer view. I'd highly recommend this for a fun and enjoyable date night. Drinks are about $10. Just your average selection, but be sure to reserve food the day before if you want food.
Overall, it was a great time and a memorable date night.

Visited here on Wednesday, July 31, 2024 while camping at nearby Monte Sano State Park. It's a deceased wealthy medical doctor's mansion that was custom-designed and built back by him in the early 1920s, and also one of the first homes in the Huntsville area to have electric wiring installed during its construction. Inside, there is some, but it's a bit sparse, so it does not take too long to walk around and see it. Outside, on the mansion's grounds (about 2 acres in total), there is a beautiful view of the city of Huntsville's old downtown area, located a few miles west of and a thousand feet below the cliff line. Additionally, on the north side of the property, there are a few old farm buildings and cabins and a petting zoo with goats, donkeys, burros, and chickens as well as an old school house that was built for African Americans during the days of segregation. Admission was only like $5 each so it's a great place to take children. Definitely pay this place visit if you are going to be in the Huntsville metro area for business or pleasure and you've got about 2 hours to spare. On the afternoon we visited, the staff were setting up a full bar under a canopy out on the grounds, and a bunch of round tables for a sunset cocktail fundraiser. We couldn't stay for that, but would have liked to.

Burritt on the Mountain is a great spot in Huntsville that is filled with a ton of history. At this venue there are many events trails, historical points and scenic overlooks.
Due to its location, it is often missed by people who call the Huntsville area home. Be sure to add it to your trip if you are from out of town or to your weekend plans if you’re a local.

The view was amazing overlooking Huntsville. Was doing a self tour but started talking to a tour guide named Paul and a volunteer Nancy who turned the afternoon into such a remarkable and blessed visit. Highly recommend this place to go for anyone single, couples or families. The hands on experiences kids can receive and participate with each cabin was very impressive I will come back the next time I’m in AL.

We went for the Fire on the Mountain event and were incredibly disappointed. We had expected it to be a lively event with blacksmiths showing off their craft and the opportunity to eat the open flame food but instead we had the underwhelming experience of just watching a couple of blacksmiths heat and hammer some hot pieces of metal. The only thing I saw them make was a nail. We also thought we’d get to taste the open flame cooking but instead we watched them prepare food that no one was allowed to eat.
For the amount visitors have to pay you’d think there’d be more to this place than the hodgepodge collection of old buildings from different original locations. Even the animals looked depressed. The only thing saving it from a 1-star rating is the view on the overlook. Don’t waste your time here or don’t show up with any high expectations.

Good place to go and see life as it was in the past. The view looking over Huntsville is amazing. I could move up here and never leave.

This was a beautiful stop. The guy in the mansion was so knowledgeable. I wished that we would have had more time to chat with him. We toured the house, which isn't all that big. There were a bunch of log cabins all brought from different areas to the property. The oldest was from 1810! Everyone was so nice! My wife asked for dinner recommendations and Poppy and Parliament was suggested. Excellent suggestion. We shared with them that you all recommended the place to us. Definitely worth the stop and wished that we would have had more time but it was the end of the day.

Not something our kiddos were in to. More historical and museum. But the view. They let you walk over to see the overlook for free. Not sure of the admission, as the kids were not interested. But they were set up for a wedding. It was beautiful.

What a great find. It's not too far outside of town and the history surrounding the house and its owner is very interesting. A must see if you are in the Huntsville area

Beautiful views. That’s it. No place for food. Historic park is lacking in authenticity but is a nice walk and fun to explore regardless.Actual mansion is very small inside and there is only items in one room, the parlor, that are original to the house and interesting. Very little information around regarding various rooms, their purposes etc…There is a quilt exhibit on display and while the quilts are lovely I don’t understand why they are in the mansion? It just needs more explanation and more artifacts and facts in general. But it is pretty. The trails and hiking are the best thing about this place. Gorgeous views and scenery abound.I might be biased having the amazing Old World Wisconsin at home in my state and having recently visited other historic mansions in the area with far more information and artifacts.I’m sure it’s great for weddings and events and maybe that is why it is so empty on the inside.I do feel the price is worth it for the trails, views, and historic park.
