Visited here last month. Good facilities and have a lot of options like a bike class, basketball court, pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, etc. Although if you are an advanced lifter, properly not the best gym. I was able to get my work in and joined the cycle class the second day. Will be back again.

Early child care center is highly unprofessional and the enrollment is not as diverse as I thought. This location should reconsider leadership of the program.

If you're a lap swimmer, the pool is NOT open in the afternoons. I can't recommend this pool for serious lap swimmers. Staff is friendly but the SE YMCA needs to staff up and use the membership dues to keep the pool OPEN. Very disappointed in pool hours. Weight machines are worn and need to be replaced with updated ones. Men's locker rooms need to be renovated. Water all over the slippery floors and lockers need to be painted or replaced. They're gross. I wonder where my dues money goes. They don't lack for membership so I don't see what the root cause of this is. I've been in YMCA's all over the country and this one does not compare favorably.

My family is here every day. My kids have grown up in childcare. I enjoy the community events they put on. Other newer facilities may feel nicer but I'm pretty low maintenance when it comes to a gym. It's great for our needs and affordable. We use pool, childcare, classes, gym equipment. I only wish there were an outdoor pool and then I wouldn't have to buy a $500 membership at a community pool.

I'm only posting this because there was no email that was sent out stating that the policy was changing. I've been doing a WERQ class with my friend here who is a member, paying $10 a class. I usually only go twice a month because I live about 25 minutes away and not worth paying the monthly membership fee when I can't go everyday. We show up for the class (of course we carpooled) and as I was getting ready to pay, I was told the policy had changed that exact day. Then she asked for my name, looked at the computer (probably noting how many times I had paid for classses) and told me that I was not able to attend the class, due to the fact that people were just paying for the classes and not joining. I was also told that the reason for this policy was to control the volume of people coming in during the Summer however, it was not summertime yet. Being military, they do give a military discount, which is very generous and greatly appreciated. I believe it's $55/month. So even if I came 4 times a month, they would only lose $5. So, why not just raise the prices to attend the class as a non-member?I don't care if you change your policy, as a company owner I understand you need to adjust your policies in order to profit. In my opinion, a statement sent out to the members and non-members stating that the policy is changing would have been the more professional route to go.So, since I had an hour to spare waiting for my friend to get done with the class, I decided to write this review. If I wanted non-members to join, I sure wouldn't turn them away at the door if they wanted to attend a class. I would, at the very least, explain the situation and inform the person this would be the last time they would be able to attend the class as a non-member.I hope you change the policies and procedures on how to address non-members. If I had one last warning I probably would have joined. Instead, I was told I had to pay $66 that day, or I couldn't attend the class. Oh, and she would waive the sign up fee!

Have been a member for a few years, and went in to bring my wife in to be a guest for the day and potentially sign up for the family membership. However, we were met by a snide front desk clerk. She didn’t have her ID which was in the car, and so she had to go get it and on her way out the front desk employee made sure to let it be known that her outfit was not appropriate. She was wearing standard gym clothing, that she bought from a CHRISTIAN website. It was tights and a crop top gym shirt. However the case, I cancelled my membership. This facility is by far the worse of the 3 in the area. My wife is not white, and funny enough I have not seen many people of color in there. In my opinion there is no use for the front desk staff. Most gyms replace them with a kiosk. Kiosk aren’t condescending and know how to watch their tone and inflection. I will never be back to this YMCA. Funny enough I have relatives that are pretty big donors for this facility. I spoke with them about it and they also lost a donor. If any type of management reads this, personally I am a business manager for a local business, and if you wonder why you are losing members and donors, this is why.

I want to find a YMCA that we don’t get sick at! So far my feet bleed from the rotting pool floors and my toddler gets hand foot and mouth and vomits. I could use water shoes but I just don’t think they clean the pools well, I really don’t think so.Ok, so I won’t be back at this location. I consider myself laid back and understanding but i won’t be back at this location.

I have been a member of the Heart of the Valley YMCA since 2017, and it has been a wonderful experience up until last week. I will say that I love the YMCA as a whole which is why this complaint is addressed to an indivudiual I am single mother of a 12 year old and for that reason I am currently on a scholarship at the YMCA. My daughter has been apart of the youth program since I started going and I must say I am truly disgusted at the experience that happened last week on 6/17. At 3 pm I received a call from Bradley Ruff who is over the summer program and the YMCA. When I answered the phone, he quickly stated to me "What time are you picking up your daughter" I replied is something wrong he then stated yes. He then proceeds to tell me that my child lied in regard to a sunscreen incident that took place the day prior. He stated to me that he took it upon himself to watch the camera and stated that she intentionally sprayed sunscreen in her eye. He then tells me that my child is disrespectful and she " walks the line" . I explained to him that I have had nothing, but good reports and I am not sure what he is talking about. I told him that I would address her in regard to the sunscreen incident he tells me that's not enough and she can't come back to the program. As I stated in the beginning of this complaint, I am a single mother and for him to make this decision that allowed me no time to find child care is completely disgusting to say the least. He even stated to me " we have worked with your daughter" as if he is doing me a favor and I should be grateful! Absolutely not! You are supposed to work with kids! That is your job! To make matter worst this past weekend my daughter was with my mother while she was pumping gas and on the other side was a white male counselor and my daughter saw him she quickly hid her face! She stated that he doesn't like her and yells at her! She also stated that he made her sit out for an entire 4 hours! The YMCA featured me on their page and highlighted that I was a single parent but yet kicked my daughter out of summer camp with no warning or time to find care?! I attended a TRX class at the Y and have been for the last two years which means I have spent a total of $1,080 alone for this class as a single parent! There was a incident two weeks ago where my daughter was in the gym with me, when we left out a rep at the front desk made it her business to ask my how old my daughter was ( mind you she was a few days from turning 12) she told me that she was not old enough to be in the fitness center. Well two weeks after that a white man and his son were in the gym and walked past the same rep that was at the front desk, yet she didn't say anything to them until I called it to her attention! There honestly needs to be some revaluating of the youth program , there are 16 year old working with 12 year old and it is obvious that they do not have the patience for a 12 year old! Brad also told me child to "get out of his office" and called her a liar! I will be cancelling my membership as well

The gym is okay, nothing fancy but it serves its purpose. However, the hours online are incorrect- doesn’t open at 7:30am Sunday, they open at noon.

I love the YMCA, I workout 3 days a week with my grandson. It gets a little crowded in the evenings, but everyone seems to get along just fine
