I don’t even want to give this place one star but there was no choice for a zero star rating.

This is the best place on Northern Lake Wedowee. It's cozy, quaint, and inexpensive... Plus, it is truly at Water's Edge.

We were there 2.5 hours on a Friday night, from 6:00-8:30 pm, to get cold fast food. Our server was a young girl who was listening to music in one ear, with a wireless Bluetooth headphone, while taking our order. In 2.5 hours we never got a refill, any explanation why it was taking so long, an offer of appetizers. Our food was served one plate at a time, so each person at out table of 4 ate alone. My friends buffalo chicken salad was just cold, fried chicken, with some buffalo sauce poured onto 25% of the chicken, the rest ran down into the salad. My chicken wrap was room temperature, and very small. It contained maybe 2 tablespoons of grilled chicken. I developed a headache from low blood sugar, so the long wait was even worse. There seemed to be only 3 teenaged looking children running the whole place, one server with poor social skills, and a girl and guy doing the cooking. During the 2.5 hours I looked into the kitchen probably 8 times. During the first hour, the two cooks were just propped up laughing and talking, but not working. Later they seemed confused and spent a lot of time looking repeatedly at the order tickets. My wife got 3 side orders, Cole slaw, baked potato and steamed vegetables. We were notified upon arriving at 6:00, that they were out of catfish. The restroom requires walking outside. It was raining with thunder and lightning, so some of the customers had aching bladders because they would't go out in the thunderstorm. Upon paying, the server rang up $13.95. I didn't know how much the sides were, so I couldn't estimate the total. I gave her $15.00 and waited on my change. She said, "I need $16.95". I said, "you just told me $13.95, and I gave you $15.00.". She replied with no expression, "I got it wrong". We used to eat at this place when they were under different ownership and the food and service was great. These are new owners, and I feel for them, because you only get one chance to make a first impression. Even though the place was packed, everyone left pretty unhappy. Some left early when it was announced there was no catfish. They say 9 out of 10 privately own restaurants fail. I hope they can turn things around.

There's a boat doc, RV park, and camp grounds here. Out and away but comfortably close to a small town with hospital.

They have a restaurant. The ladies are especially nice. If you're looking for good food and good conversation, stop in and feel right at home. Mrs. Sarah makes a great hamburger steak. And prices are reasonable.
