Did not receive good service. Slow to get return phone calls, poor examination of the car I was interested in, service department is totally understaffed and no one can help you with out an appointment. Not likely to return.

After being approved for a car at the Mobile, AL location and submitting all documents so that an express pickup could be scheduled, I thought I was good to go.. On the day of my appt to pick up the car 2 hours and 45 minutes away, I get a call from Ashlee Rogers, the manager asking if had further documents to provide to prove my income. I proceed to ask why this wasn't communicated to me before getting on the road to my appt. So while driving, I try to submit more documents and pulled over multiple times to do so. After traffic and pulling over multiple times, I ran late and let her know that I was still on the way. She didnt tell me to turn around if I am not there by a certain time, so again I am thinking I am okay. I get to Carmax Mobile at 8:01pm and ran for my life to find the doors locked and Ashlee at the door saying I am sorry we are closed. To my utter shock, I plead with her to say why didn't she inform me that they would close the doors at 8:00 once I told her I was running super late. My appt was at 7:00pm. She proceeds to let me in once she realized that all the staff was not gone as she said is the reason she could not see me. Once inside, she continues to question my income and still no car that night. I had to return the next day due to inconsistent information not given to me prior to me coming to pick up the car. It was a horrific experience. I hope someone is reading this to make sure to get all information before hand. This location is really bad with that.

walked in yesterday with 30,000 in cash on me. Was greeted by the lady in the front all she said was "hello welcome to car max" and allowed me to walk around the lot with nobody every coming to assist me. You had 3 employees just talking to each other as i walked out with my 30k. Just a heads up i was willing to get a 50k car with 30k downpayment. Never will i visit you guys again. I thought you were like Walmart of Cars, but youre more like Dollar General of Cars. Also all of your vehicles stink and have not been washed from previous owners. NEVER AGAIN!

The place is terrible, the staff ignores you, we’ve been here for over 6 hours, they’re teenagers working who just run away from customers, it’s horrible.

My car was purchased on November 27. After two weeks of ownership, the interior side panel came loose and had to be replaced. After three weeks of ownership, I discovered that I had to replace the tires due to excessive wear. I was told that the previous owner did not rotate and balance them properly. I contacted the CarMax service manager. According to him, the tires meet their standards, and I must take care of them myself. I would advise all buyers to have their cars inspected when buying from CarMax.

I’m only giving two stars because some people tried to resolve my issues. But I bought a car with the understanding it was the one me and sales rep looked at to only find out that the vehicle wasn’t near me it was 5 hrs away and it would take 10-12 days to get. I rented a car get to mobile to find out that the vehicle I thought I purchased ans was in my insurance wasn’t it. After 2 hours they realized the rep made an error. He financed me for a whole different one. I was told I could get a refund after they ran my credit twice once for another error they made.
But tells me if I keep it they all fall off. Two days later my engine light comes on, breaks grinding and oil needs changing. For three days I have to wait to have it looked at. They gave me the run around finally get an appointment then I find out my car was unsafe to drive but due to unforeseen stuff they sent me home in that same vehicle. I returned with it to only have to get refinance for another one. (It makes no since to only finance ppl for one car. If you get financed for a certain amount why can’t I select what’s my price range?? I’ve never experienced this before) .
So I calls corporate file a complaint. After 7 hours I get approved for another car then the next day engine light on. Not even 12 hours later. I calls the store and cust relations. It takes 4 days to figure it out I need a new engine. I was told they won’t compensate me for my time or anything. I can either get a refund or keep it and get a new engine.
I have no other transportation. So I have no other choice. But if I refund after they ran my credit through 30 + banks I’ll have to fight all those inquires. I was told they would give me a free oil change or $20 back on lunch🤨.
So my choices was nothing or nothing. Or I can run my credit again take my chances on getting approved for the same down payment. Or give more money.
So to make sure I can’t do anything they refuse to replace the engine until I reach my 10 days no return policy. So until I get it fixed or refund I have a loaner.its so much more to this. But I got handed to lemons and then I feel like I was being intermediated to leave without anything and bullied to keep my vehicle. Since when is it ok for a company to do this and because I needed a car they get away with it. What is my door feel off while driving(yes it wasn’t connected)? How did I get two cars that major issues slipped through inspection? How are they selling cars they know is known for having major engine trouble but not disclosing it or even making sure the issues are fixed before selling them.
So not only I have to wait my 10 days because I have no other option right now, but all they offered was an oil change and their apologies but hey I can get my money back and fight appeal my credit. I didn’t get one denial letter until they started running my credit multiple times in 5 days

This was our second CarMax purchase. The car was just what our daughter needed, at a good price. The associate was very professional and efficient.

Simple, hassle-free car buying. I was able to trade in my car and drive away with a new one a few hours later! Ask for Matthew Brown, he was very helpful!

Wonderful experience. They let me take my time to look at all of their cars on my own which I appreciated. Never felt rushed or pressured once. I believe the man that helped out the most was named Steven. He was wonderful. I also believe we were helped out by Ty and Guy as well. I can’t recommend this place enough.
