The Mobile Museum of Art (MMoA) aims to bring people together and inspire creativity through the power of art. It features a permanent collection of nearly 6,400 works of fine and decorative arts from America, Asia, and Europe, spanning from classical antiquity to today. Supported by a unique public/private partnership, the museum is owned by the city of Mobile, while the collection is privately managed. Founded in 1964, it is the only accredited art museum in southern Alabama and offers diverse exhibits that appeal to all visitors. The museum includes interactive children’s exhibits, regional and local artworks, and special installations by both local and non-local artists. Visitors can enjoy a well-curated experience, often with free admission on Thursdays for Mobile Co residents, and plenty of parking. The museum is medium-sized, perfect for a quick visit or a leisurely afternoon, providing fresh and meaningful art experiences for everyone.
