Visited this shop to pick up some rosin. Walked in and there were four staff members sitting behind their counters. One member asked what we needed and helped us. Atmosphere was dead silent, no talking, no music, Etc ... a bit awkward.

I have all my guitar related stuff done here - repairs, re-wiring, set up, string change, changing pots, swapping pick ups. Neil Young the repair man is just great. All the staff are very helpful.

Completely ridiculous prices for violin strings! The only reason they're getting two stars is because they weren't rude about it. $100 for a set of dominants.Johnson String Instruments sells custom sets of dominant A, D, and G with your choice of e for $76.Amazon charges $54 for a set of dominants. About half of what Art's was asking.I was traveling and wanted a spare set of strings in case one on my instrument broke- I decided to just risk it. Do you people have any respect for working professional musicians or are you just trying to extract as much money as possible from witless amateurs and students who come to your shop?? Shame on you.

I went looking for a 6string bass guitar and was disappointed. They mostly had 4string basses and only two 5string basses... maybe 10 bass guitars all together. Wasn't impressed with their inventory.

Love this place. I just started to play the violin and whenever I had a problem with it, they fixed the violin (like putting up the bridge, tuning it, showing me how to use it etc) ALL for free! It's a great store, I love the architecture of it as well and how the prices are so low!!

2 years ago my son started playing the trumpet. Arts came to the school as students were signing up. We financed the trumpet through Arts. For 2 years, $88 was auto drafted from my account. Do the math, but that's over $2,000 for a trumpet. Not one late payment.5 months ago I closed that account and opened another. My fault for not remembering Arts, but again, I've never physically made a payment. I make no excuses though. This was MY error. Arts say they have sent me letters and text messages. I've never received one.Last week, my 13 year old calls me from school saying Arts had called his band director and I need to call their office. All of the sudden, I remember! I said I would call them when I got home. A few hours later my son calls me again from school and hands the phone to a lady from Arts who was at his school. Through poor reception, as I was on Fort Benning, in Martin Army hospital, we had a partial conversation where I agreed to call the office when I got home. Not even 15 minutes later, my son sends me a text message telling me this lady took his trumpet.I owed less than $500 and had paid over $2,000, but they found it necessary to come to my kids school and take his instrument from him rather than attempt to work it out.3 days later I paid them the $500 and now have to drive 2 hours to their Dothan location to pick up the trumpet.I don't do reviews. I generally haven't ever felt the need, but if this isn't the most absurd customer service I've had, I'm not sure what is.They did not text and might have sent letters, but I have moved twice in those 2 years. I didn't receive them. But if they were able to text, why not call? They called the school band director. Why not call me? Just ridiculous! For a $2500 trumpet, that should include some customer service skills, or at the very least, a smidgen of human decency.

My daughter gave them all the correct information for her banking and the 3rd month they billed her for overdue payment. When she called to make sure they had the correct information they still refused to take off the late charge when it was evidently no fault of hers. They rip people off!

Whew! Instruments are expensive! We did get help choosing the perfect clarinet for our needs and price range. I'm glad they offer financing and no commitments for 120 days or something, in case she hates band.

They really price gouge parents of high school band kids. My daughter needed a clarinet. The salesman convinced me that for $90/month she could have a durable, great sounding, top-of-the-line instrument. Well she got to play it for 1 season because of Covid-19 causing cancellation of most of the events. So basically she got a couple months of usage and I had to pay on the thing for years, amounting to about $4000. Then they offered me $400 to buy back the clarinet that was still in pristine excellent condition. I probably would have taken $1500, but I think they could have offered at least $2000 since they can easily resell the instrument. To add insult to injury they made me pay $50 to ship it back to our house after it took them almost 2 weeks to appraise it at the store 3 hours from here in Mobile because I rejected the offer for $400. If anyone needs a nice wooden clarinet, find me on FB and message me. I'll give you a much better deal than Art's.
