The humane shelter of Montgomery services are horrible. I have called several times. I went out to the facility. I sent an email as well. My mom is new amputee and the neighbors can’t control their cane corso. I have talked and text the neighbors nothing has been done. Police has been called. All over the course of two weeks No one has showed up and the dog has not been removed. He just running freely. I see why people take matters in there owns hands.

Adopting my puppy was a wonderful experience. Everyone is so nice and knowledgeable. My favorite person in the office by far is Ms. Laurie! She is absolutely amazing, sweet, and kind. Thank you all so much for making the process easy and beneficial!! Taz is already well loved and the apple of our eyes!

A Huge Thanks and Hug to Deputy Sellers, Deputy Guarino and the Chief Deputy Officer for coming to the aide of several abandoned and injured dogs and puppies. Deputy Sellers picked up a sweet, stray Rottweiler last July 2023. The Chief Deputy Officer just rescued 8 puppies whose mother was abandoned and living in the woods. And Deputy Guarino just saved a small puppy trapped under a fence in bad weather with heavy downpour. He's going to need some new shoes! The Chief Deputy officer stated that the injured grey dog I called about is still alive and they are trying rescue her. Prayers for the whole team and the dog. These guys are very knowledgeable, capable and professional. Hats Off!

Real stupid that you have to make an appointment to get a stray dog picked up to keep it safe in Alabama

After my application for adoption was approved, speaking with someone regarding a specific kitten, and traveling over an hour for an appointment, we arrived to find the specific kitten was in the meet and greet room with another family. They spent 10-15 minutes trying to locate her! My daughter spoke with the manager and explained the circumstances, the manager went and retrieved the sweet baby that I thought I would be bringing to her forever home. I held her and instantly felt a connection and joy that I haven’t felt for some time. They then come to tell me that I couldn’t adopt her because they could not let her leave since she had not had surgery, was not old enough, and I did not live in Montgomery County. Since they have a “do not hold” rule in place, after she has the surgery, I could return to complete the process UNLESS someone adopted her that actually lived in Montgomery County before I come back. I WAS WILLING TO GO AHEAD AND PAY EVERYTHING PLUS EXTRA!I understand all of the rules, why they are in place, and was not asking for special treatment. I was clearly trying to explain from my point of view as well. They would not even listen. I am extremely disappointed that they saw my application, approved it (knowing that I had a specific kitten in mind), allowed me to drive in for an appointment, to tell me that they was not going to let me get her. My application clearly stated my address… they should have known all of the details and been more coordinated. There are so many details that I’m leaving out but I hope they know that they refused a loving lady that was going to give that baby a VERY GOOD HOME! I am truly disappointed in the negligence to detail that was so very important! I am so sorry Eloise! I really tried sweet baby!!!

We made our first visit to the humane society today to meet a cat. The people were all very friendly and happy to help. We only visited the Cat Room and we were incredibly impressed with how clean this location is! There were no offensive “pet” odors here, and that’s better than even most veterinary offices! On top of the friendly people and the cleanliness, all of the cats were very sweet and were very happy! It was so hard to only adopt 1! We highly recommend making an appointment if you are interested in adding a pet to your family!

Dropping off strays is a huge PITA. NOT user friendly. Want you to go to their website and fill out pages of info. I just picked up 2 strays on my lunch break. The shelter was close by. I literally had very little time to help these dogs. I strongly suggest to Mgmt to have front desk person fill out the forms while asking the rescuer the questions. I literally had ZERO information about these dogs. The form is ask for every detail about them. Terribly inefficient for strays drop off. It would be totally different had they been a an animal you knew well. Also, I asked it they could call us first AFTER the 10 day waiting period to find their owners. I was told NO. They could NOT keep up with all the information and we would have to call or look on their website like everyone else does. Do you folks really want to find homes for these animals ? Then make the STRAY drop off EASIER. Then also make a process for folks that WANT to give these drop offs a NICE home. It is NOT that difficult. Really. Thank you.

I adopted my precious fur baby on Monday. Her name was Maeve but her new name is now Molly. She is the bet dog I have ever owned. Super sweet and such a loving soul. Please adopt if you are thinking about a new family member. I could not be any happier with my decision.

I have been on the search for a little tortoiseshell cat/kitten for the longest. Well, I seen MHS had some and I put in an application and they called me back the following morning letting me know I was approved. When I got there, everyone there was so very welcoming. One employee, Tristan in particular, was so friendly and very knowledgeable. He was also accompanied by another woman who had blonde curly hair who was also wonderful. They were so patient with me while I was looking for the perfect cat. I held a few but I finally found one and we had an instant connection. I just had a wonderful experience here. The facility is super clean as well. Thank you MHS for the best cat!

I took a 7/8 week old kitten that I found in my yard. Its eyes matted shut and very fragile. They wouldn’t take it. I drove 40 mins to get it help and they refused it. I put it in the grass so it could use the bathroom before we got back in the car to find another place for it to go and a lady comes out yelling at me. WHAT ARE YOU DOING??? Then spoke to me very rudely. Very disrespectful. I know she thought I was going to leave it but I didn’t rescue it and take it to them to just leave it in the grass. Very disrespectful and rude. I have 3 rescued cats. They may can take care of animals but they really need to work on their people skills. They can count me out for donations or foster care. I will look elsewhere. I took the kitten to Elmore County Humane and they accepted it with open arms and treated me respectfully, like a person. If I could give this place a - star I would. Also, while I’m here. I didn’t plan on leaving a review for this but… I have gone to see some animals that they have up for adoption, and the character and temperament of the animals are not what they describe online. “Good around kids” but when we get there the animal will not let anyone touch them, not even the workers.

This place is nice, but if you guys really want to achieve a higher adoption rate then you guys need to do away with appointments. The appointments were fine when COVID was at its peak, but it’s doing more harm than good now.Animal control is also lousy. They never answer the phone, or return your calls. You guys really need to step it up.Other than that the facility is nice.

They helped me find the perfect dog for me! The staff was easy to work with, they gave me all the info I needed to keep him on his food and meds schedule.
