Stopped in at 4:10 pm on a Wednesday and the store was closed. Useless store. I quit stopping here long ago because there was always a line of people and the self checkouts were closed.

Just found out today Ms Margaret was fired because of back stock not on the shelves. That woman has worked so hard as the store manager for years. The store has such high turn over and have always had a an issue with back stock. Ms Margaret has improved that store from where is use to be. If she is not longer working there, just know me and my friends and family will never shop there. As a community we plan on boycotting the Mt Vernon AL Dollar General aka DG Market on hwy 43.

Yesterday was absolutely heartbreaking. They fired one of the most hardworking, dedicated store managers I’ve ever seen. Instead of showing up to support her, y’all came in and fired Ms. Margarette. She didn’t have enough employees to run that store but she gave it everything she had. Day in and day out, from sunup to sundown, she showed up. Every time I walked in that store, she was on the register, helping vendors, stocking shelves doing the work of three people without ever complaining.
She carried that store on her back with barely any help and still greeted customers with a smile. Ms. Margarette wasn’t just an employee she was the heart of that store. She’s the reason so many people kept shopping there. What happened to her is not just unfair it’s cruel.
DG, you got this all the way wrong. Instead of lending her a hand or sending more staff, corporate chose to take her job. The truth is, the person who fired her couldn’t do half of what she did with just four employees.
Give her back her job and give her a raise while you’re at it. She earned it ten times over.

I tried to come into this establishment tonight 01/13/2023 at 7:55 PM just to get a couple of things and they were closed? i was confused since the door sign said 10 PM…..

Unexpectedly closed the doors at 6pm today, 5/1/21. There were people still inside and I BEGGED the lady to let me in to run and grab a card really really quick (since I’m headed to a graduation party) but she wouldn’t do it. This is the only DG around, so if you’re gonna close it down early there better be a pretty dang good reason...

This reviews for the Mount Vernon Dollar General. Me being just recently moved out here I did a quick search on Google for a Dollar General. Which was 45 mins up the road 1 way. So I figured it was bout 15 to 8 plus they dont close til 10 . . . . Or so I thought. Upon getting to the store, parking and walking towards the door. I hear an associate yell and I Quote "GO AWAY GO NOW WE CLOSED AT 8". With no sign,warning nor forewarning i just went back to my car with the. Thoughts of that being very rude and as well why 8... Anywho I wont be going back plus will make sure Family,Friends,etc know how rude they are there.
