I did not have a positive experience at this location. I had specifically requested a certain type of vehicle, but was given a different one without explanation. The associate assured me she would call on Monday to arrange a swap for the correct vehicle, but I never received a follow-up. Despite calling twice, I was repeatedly told the requested car was unavailable.
When it came time to return the rental, I arranged for someone to meet me at 5:00 PM to give me a ride. My ride arrived early and kindly asked the associate if she could wait just five minutes, as I was caught in slow traffic and only minutes away. Unfortunately, she refused and shut the door in his face, locking it behind her.
Additionally, the vehicle I was given had the “Change Oil” light on from the start and made a persistent rattling noise. While I’m grateful to have had transportation while my own car was in the shop, the overall lack of communication, professionalism, and vehicle maintenance was disappointing.

My experience with Hertz was horrible! After reserving a cat online, I arrive only to find out there are no cats available. Very poor service!!
Adding a note to say this response is just as poor as the service I received at the location and through the 800 number. Not one person has offered anything other than a weak apology.

I'm not sure if the employee was having a bad day or if I was victim to a scam like others gave mentioned. When I brought my car back the girl gave me the keys back and said I would have to get the car vacuumed out stating that the floors was 'covered in sand'. They gave me no floor mats and I was the only occupant for 5 days with no sand in sight. By the time I made it back and got my receipt I was charged another day. The girl stated they did not have vacuumes? Or somehow they weren't powerful enough?

The chances of even getting a rental are very slim. If you book online, don't expect it to mean they have a car

WARNING: DO NOT rent from this location / company. They do not honor their pricing, even after reservation made online. 1-800 customer service is zero help as well. After reserving car at one price, I was charged a different price. Then called to extend rental by one day, and extra charges were added, as well as a different rate, even though the nationwide customer service supervisor added a “courtesy voucher” to my rental. This location (Pelham) would not honor any of it. Scammers. Use Enterprise - competent employees who actually seem to enjoy their job.

It’s confusing why there’s so many consistently bad reviews as if nothing is changing. I will be dropping my rental off later and after reading all these reviews I’m going to be sure to have the car cleaned out perfectly ensuring I get no extra fees charged. I’ll keep you all updated

PLEASE READ!! I saw the bad reviews on google about this specific store, and I still decided to give it a chance. I made my reservation with a week of anticipation to pick up on May the 9th 2025. Anyhow, since I still was skeptical because of the bad service reviews from customers claiming bait and switch, unexpected charges and vehicle availability despite reservations, I decided to call 2 hours prior to the pickup to see if they would have my car ready at the scheduled time, and guess what? They left me on the phone waiting, then they hung up. I called 3 more times until they finally picked up the phone again, and guess what?? They said: we do not have your reserved car; we will let you know as soon as we get one in. WHAT?? So, I asked, “You do not know if you would have my car by 4pm? They said NO we don’t have any available car for you, we will call you back when we have one (in a super rude tone). -No wonder why the super bad reviews-. TO MY SURPRISE, this location charged me with a NO SHOW FEE for $38.71, really? How, why? They specifically told me they did not have a car available for me! Why would I show if they communicated me on the phone that they did not have the car??? I called customer service; they agreed to make a refund for the amount, and guess what? They haven’t done it yet. The dispute with my credit card bank told me they call them and the no show fee was because I did not showed up!. AGAIN, I did not show up because they told me they had no car for me! What did they want from me, to show up regardless and say, THANKS FOR YOUR “NO CAR” AVAIBILITY.? I am still disputing the charges. It is not about the $38.71, it is about DISHONEST PRACTICE of this store.

I reserved a car online for $130 but when I got there they did not have that car on stock and instead of upgrading me for free they charged me $160 what they did have in stock.I felt very manipulated into spending more money.Apon returning the car the employee informed me that there was pet hair in the car and that I would be charged $500 dollars for a cleaning fee.Needless to say I became irritate.Then they called the police and had me trespassed.So not only did they scam me into paying more money in the beginning they used help from the police to basically steal more money from me.I would not recommend anyone ever renting here.

I’m a Hertz Golf member. I’m used to being able to pickup my keys at the Gold counter and heading out. Super quick! But not at this location. They have a Hertz board but don’t use it. I sat for over 50 minutes to pickup a car. There were only 2 people in front of me. Only 1 person working and she was slow as hell. This was a miserable experience.

Was going to leave a bad review because I had reserved a car 2 weeks in advance and they did not have it when I arrived. She said they would have one in an hour so I ate lunch and came back and they did have it ready at that time. Lady working the desk solo was good at her job and kept calm with lots of complaining people in there

I have never in my life walked into a store as a customer, ask the employee a question, and get the response “ I dont know, I’ve gotta take this phone call”. Then it was Idk, I’m going on break”.
It was 4pm and they close at 5pm.
Karen was awesome and provided excellent customer service.
The other lady is probably the reason for the low reviews at this location.

Guys please don't rent from this people very unprofessional service i called the lost found left 2 of my sunglasses in glove box value around 800$ raybans first they accept they have it later they argued never see the glasses please they are thief careful with your belongings i never rent again from hertz what a thief's
