Avoid this Uhaul Skyland Location (124 Skyland Blvd)! I waited almost an hour for my truck because they only had one person on staff during the move-in season. I was overcharged for my truck rental as well as items I ordered and did not receive. Uhaul customer service asked me to contact the general manager to discuss the issue. Instead of talking to the GM, they put me on the phone with a very rude employee who pretended to be the GM and refused my request for a partial refund. Uhaul is now trying to connect me with the regional office to see if they can help me out. The list of complaints about this location from Alabama parents is very long. The Uhaul Skyland location is not worth the hassle when there are so many other places to rent trucks in the area.

we have reserved a truck weeks in advance only to be notified there is no truck available within 50 miles. They let us know 1-2 days before our scheduled pick up. This has happened 3 different times. Thankfully I reserved a Penske truck as back up this time just in case, and sure enough I'm glad I did! I will never use Uhaul again. Penske guarantees availability and it has been worth the extra money. If you want a guaranteed reservation that won't cancel on you then go with Penske!

Terrible customer service. When you have an issue, good luck. They do not answer the phone. They do not take a message.

U Haul is the worst customer service there is. Both times we used them was a total. Mess. First time we reserved storage unit. Unit not available when we got there. Still not available the next morning we only had a couple hours to fill. Second time I reserved truck 6 months in advance, preregistered the week before and when we got there no truck! We had to hire 2 men and a truck to save us.

I rented a 5x8 trailer at a different Uhaul location, but the lights were not working. So I brought it to the Uhaul Skyline location, where the manager (forgot his name) immediately came out and took a look at it. He determined the trailer wasn't getting power, but needed to have the electrician, Ryan, check it out. The next morning I brought it in and Ryan immediately checked it out and found that the car was missing several relay switches needed to power the trailer lights. Ryan is a true professional- he found the problem quickly! And they didn't charge me! I really appreciate the great service - especially since I was driving to California - Thank you ! Mike

The truck was not available for our morning pickup, then our appointment was retroactively reduced by ¼ so we had that much less time to move. These people don't give two craps.

How many ways can a business exude incompetence and total apathy for it's customer? Several, I found out when I used Tuscaloosa UHaul. I had to wait almost 45 minutes to pick up my vehicle, as only one clerk was working. One week after I turned it in, I found out I had been turned over to UHaul collections for non- payment of " mileage" that I went over. No one had called me or emailed me, despite them having both contacts. They emailed my sister instead. I knew I hadn't gone over the mileage. So I called. And called. After about 45 minutes on hold I talked to a man who argued with me that : 1. I turned my trailer in a day late. I didn't , I turned it in a day early, and it was a 20 foot truck. 2. I went over the mileage. I didn't. I even mapquested my route to double check. Finally he said " let me bring up your account" WHAT ? He didn't have it up already? Then he said " oh it's because you used the dolly and pads inside the truck!" I replied well I wasn't made aware that there was a fee. He said " there's usually a sign on them because we have this problem a lot with women" DUDE. Anyway I agreed to pay, he transferred me, and promptly hung up on me. I tried for another 20 minutes or so to call back, no answer. Finally called the main UHaul number to find out I was being overcharged and the Tuscaloosa location didn't even have me listed for the correct vehicle. I was also on a list banning me from ever renting a UHaul again. I paid my proper amount and got things taken care of. This place is a hot mess. I'd move in a wheel barrow rather than fool with them again But what do I know? I'm just "a woman".

Do not get movers in Tuscaloosa off of the U-Haul website, especially Moving U. They caused $1000 in damage, and not only are they not responding to my communication, U-Haul is not helping me, and the website movinghelp.com is powered by U-Haul.

Pros: 1) Picking up the truck was a quick process. I reserved a truck using their website and the process was easy. 2) Checking the truck in was even easier. The employee did the whole process using their smartphone app, I didn't even have to go inside. Cons: 1) The truck smelled liked smoke even though there's a sign inside the truck that read no smoking. I guess it is out of their control when people just don't follow the rules. 2) The truck only had 1/4th tank of gas in it which is pretty low to start with. It was fine with me since I was moving within the city but would suck for anyone moving a great distance. Overall: I would recommend this company to anybody who is trying to move. Moving from one location to another is already a pain and they don't add to it.
