The free checking is nice but the savings account is garbage for interest and they charge hidden services charges despite your account being high enough to avoid it. Wouldn't recommend this bank to anyone for keeping a savings account. Staff here is friendly though.

Went in to this branch around 10:45AM on February 13thOpened a checking account online at SouthState the previous week as I was looking for a bank more local to my new house and workplace.This was my first time at a SouthState in person, and I was about to make my initial deposit and ask for direct deposit forms when I was informed that the bank was unable to produce new debit cards at this time.While that was odd, and big blow to this company’s credibility in my eyes…. That alone did not stop me from making my deposit and carrying on with my intention to bank here….See I could’ve overlooked the lack of a debit card temporarily… if it wasn’t for the fact that the young teller had zero interest in being there that day. She was not rude. She was disinterested, disengaged, and was not the friendly face one would expect as a teller.She did not act this way as a reaction to anything. She was like that from the very moment I walked up to the counter and was greeted with a monotone “How can I help you.”As a matter of fact. Not a soul was smiling behind that counter the entire time I was in there.But a good teller, wait… even a mediocre teller could’ve saved my willingness to continue to be a client at this bank. But not these ladies unfortunately.I will be closing my account before I even get started.An additional star was awarded for the lack of any wait times. For this reason alone I would’ve loved to have banked at a place like this… if they had tried in all of the areas that matter most.

This is the slowest bank I have ever been too, this is the second time at this bank's drive thru. 30 minutes with one car in front of me.

Customer service is terrible. I have ALOT of funds invested in this bank from the previous bank owners. I will start Monday on moving all my funds to a different institution.

Rude and would not help me. Had to go to my bank and another branch to fix my problem. I haven't had any problems at other branches, but I will not be back to this one ever again. By the way even if you don't have a personal account with their bank this particular branch will refuse to cash your check, however, you can go to any other branch and they will cash it for a fee don't let them lie to you like they lied to me!!

Charge you $3.00 foreign ATM fee if you don't use one of their ATMs. During the change from center state to south state, the ATMs at the bank were only working about half the time so if you needed to go to an ATM they would still charge you $3.00. if you are looking for a bank in valley go somewhere else.
