We recently had an appointment at the USPS Office in Vestavia, which we had conveniently scheduled online. However, our experience took an unexpected turn when a clerk called us to reschedule our appointment to an earlier time. Understanding the importance of the matter, my wife and I arranged to take time off work to accommodate the new timing as requested.Upon our arrival for the rescheduled appointment, we were surprised to find that the clerk who had initiated the rescheduling was on lunch break and not available to assist us. The other clerk present was unable to help with our needs and informed us that our only option was to reschedule again. While they offered apologies for the inconvenience, the situation resulted in a loss of our time and a lack of resolution to our original purpose for visiting.We hope this feedback highlights the importance of internal communication and scheduling coordination to ensure that such inconveniences can be avoided in the future, ensuring a smoother and more efficient experience for all customers.

Janice helped me with my passport renewal and was very helpful and went out of her way to accommodate my needs. You don’t find many people like her in today’s workforce.

Somehow, these folks make me appreciate the speed and efficiency of the DMV. Every stereo-type that applies to government workers is exemplified by the staff at this location.

Contrary to the bad reviews, I had a great customer experience with a return of some shoes. My printer at home had stopped working, and I was out of packing tape. In short, I was grossly underprepared to make a return. Nevertheless, I came in hoping to buy a box and some tape to return these shoes. There was no line, and even though it was 4:30 pm (close to closing time), the people there were so gracious. They helped me with everything I needed and even gave me a box for FREE! Mattie, if you’re reading this, you’re the best. All in all folks, the ratings are bad bc no one who HAS a good experience takes the time to write it down.

Had a scheduled passport appointment last Friday. Showed up 10 mins early and was told the person left for the day. By the looks from these reviews it seems this has been a problem for YEARS NOW?? Why are they in business/allowed to continue setting up appointments? I will be submitting a complaint to USPS about this location specifically and encourage others to do the same.

I made my passport appointment with VH PO after the VH Library said they had a 2+ month wait, and then I read the reviews for this post office. Now I know why they have a wait at the VH Library and I was able to get an appointment at VH PO. Needless to say, I was not confident. Sure enough, 15 minutes before I was to leave work to take care of my passport they called to cancel likely due to weather. I will give them credit for actually calling to inform me and the postal worker was polite. 10 minutes later I headed to the Birmingham Public Library where they accept walk-ins. It was a GREAT experience. One of the staff at the front desk does it. I thought I was going to have to track down some room in the library. NOPE. By the way, I got there at 11:35 am and they were closing passport services due to weather at noon. The lady was VERY nice and I was in and out in 5 minutes. No line and no waiting and no hassle. If you are able, go to the Birmingham Public Library. GREAT SERVICE!!! Vestavia Hills post office 1 star as many of the reviews already point out. BPL 5 out of 5 stars. If I could give more I would. Hope this review helps someone.

I went to send a very important application and Mrs. Janice the sweet, helpful lady at the front, helped me every step of the way. She told me which envelope/label/how much it would be and I’m very glad she was there otherwise my application wouldn’t be where it needed to be on time! Thanks for all you do!

THE ABSOLUTE WORST. closed at 0925 on a Monday morning and they're supposed to be open at 0830. very slow, not friendly, having loud and personal conversations in front of everyone, totally unprofessional, but ya know "day work fo da guvment so day do what day please".

If it wasn't for the federal government crutching the post office up, UPS and FedEx would have put them out of business years ago. What other business can lose eight to $12 billion a year and stay in business? This place is run like a 1940s bootlegger; there's no organization, one person doesn't know what the other is doing, and their website thinks they do it all. The FBI sent me here to have electronic fingerprints done because it's the only place in Alabama that does them, but these folks didn't know they don't do fingerprints until I got there. The one person in the state who is qualified to do electronic fingerprints is apparently on a binge at a meth lab somewhere.

I would not recommend this location for passport applications. We called several times in the morning to confirm our appointment, but were unable to reach anyone. We arrived at our scheduled appointment only to be told that the employee had called in sick that morning (so no one contacted us despite it being more than 2 hours past their opening time). The employee present was not very helpful and gave me two new locations that accept walk-ins. I would recommend the birmingham public library. The employees there were efficient and kind.

Worst of the worst customer service. Had an appt made online for passport. After arriving for said appt was told, there is no clerks to do that. WHAT??? Why do you have appts online then when people show up, you just say.... "Oh well" AWFUL

Always rude and extremely slow service. Went to drop a package off on a Saturday at 10am and they were still closed even though you could hear the employees in the back talking.

I would give this location zero stars, if that was a choice. they are rude, inefficient and slow. On one occasion, the worker was removing the mail from the outside mailbox (5:00pm) and I tried to give my stamped envelope to him and he told me that was not possible, that I would have to wait until he finished, and then put my envelope in the empty mailbox (not to be retrieved until the next day at 5pm). HOW D*** ARE THESE PEOPLE???

The staff here are terrible. They go out of their way to be super petty and not helpful. I see what people said about the attitudes here. Nobody wants to help you and gives you a terrible attitude if you require any assistance. Don’t bring in pre paid packages they will talk down to you and not help you and look for every way they can to not accept a package. I’d never go here again!!!! I don’t see why everybody has such a horrible attitude at this place. I’d drive 20 miles out the way to avoid this horrible place
