This is what happened to me when I was shopping at Vestavia Walmart neighborhood Market today (11/8/2023). Just after I scanned Pear and put it in bag at self check-out, one African-American employee with curly hair walked to me and asked me "Did you scan it?" I was shocked and pointed to the screen to show her what I just scanned. She looked at the screen and walked away without saying anything. I feel very offended with this rude manner. I think she treated me this way only because I am an Asian. After I got back home, I called the store and asked to talk to their store manager. I want to report the issue. A lady picked up the phone. She started to explain blabla.........trying to defend the employee's behavior that I complained about, the whole time without a single sorry. I called again and this time I asked directly to talk to Manger Micheal. Same lady picked up the phone. She said the manager was in the meeting. She started to explain why she walked to me, now I realized that I was talking to the person who offended me !!!!!! I asked her "You are the person walked to me.? " She confronted "yes. " . She said the system showed something wrong. That is why she walked to me to check. I said there is a video recording in front of each counter to monitor real time check-out and the screen is showing every detail that I just scanned items. Nothing is wrong. I questioned her "If your system shows something wrong, why don't you tell me that?" she said she murmured " 'Something is wrong' when she walled away. I swear I did not hear anything!! There were only two customers and it was quite at the scene. I said your responsibility is to make sure nobody steal store items, that is not questionable. But the way you treat the customer is not acceptable. At this point, she started saying sorry. I hope she has a lesson this time and will treat other customer nicely without racial bias !!!

My wife and I attempted to return several unopened drinks that were purchased this week from Walmart. First trip and we did not have the correct receipt. We're told to come back with it or they could not return. We went home and came back with the receipt. We paid cash for the items... we were then told by Brandi these items were not purchased at this, Walmart. They could all not be returned here.... Fine-return what we can.---- we were then told no only a gift card, even though we have the receipt showing that we paid for it in cash several days before this. All we were told was it's store policy it's store policy.!!! They had a random fellow that is coming in pushing carts that wanted to jump into the middle of a conversation. This HOOVER location is sad sad. Sad. Would like to use the store we live down the street.. we ended up taking all of our items to the Vestavia location where we were service immediately by Stephen and probably even our money back. Our mistake for attempting to use our local. Walmart won't be doing that again. Stay away from the store.!!! we were upset and at no time did anyone say hey let me call a manager or get somebody else to try to resolve the situation. It was take your stuff and deal with it.... Well, we did and we won't be back.!!! and I'm pretty sure that they don't care if I could complete with with less than one store I would, but it's forcing me to give them one!!

Please read entire review, as I had a very unfortunate experience with one employee. But first, FIVE STARS FOR BRI. She's amazing. Always very helpful and kind, and just genuinely is a pleasant person to be around. I love seeing her in the store as she always smiles and greets us! We've been going to this Walmart for a while now and have seen a bunch of friendly faces, and she always is so sweet. Now Bonnie. I didn't know I would be writing a review about Walmart today necessarily. This is about Bonnie. Bonnie drove recklessly on the road next to Walmart, almost causing two accidents, me included. She cut off one car and then cut me off, taunting as if she was going to let me and my younger sister over, and then speeding by me. I honked and had to quickly go to the other lane before she would have collided with me. She didn't even look in my direction. She turned into the parking lot to Walmart and I saw her blonde hair and blue vest get out of the car. She went straight into a check out and I immediately asked another employee what her name was. I don't know if you guys offer a grace period for late employees, but maybe something like that will help prevent incidents happening. Again, this Walmart is GREAT~ but this definitely spoiled my trip today.

I think I can go out on a limb and say this is (probably) the best Walmart Neighborhood Market (WNM) I've ever been in. If you aren't familiar with WNM, it's basically the same thing you'd expect from Walmart on the food side of things, as they tend to focus on grocery and pharmacy at all locations with some also including gas stations (this location does not have a gas station). They have some of the other items that a standard Super Walmart carries, just much smaller quantity and selection. This store is without a doubt the cleanest and best organized WNM I've been in. They have a really nice fresh produce section and the store in general feels a little bit more open than some of the other ones I've been in. With a focus on providing a quicker shopping experience they have several kiosk style scan and pay stations so you can get yourself checked out pretty quickly as well. Good location and I wouldn't hesitate to return and shop here in the future.

I went to this Walmart this morning. It had just opened at 7:00 AM. I wanted to buy a gift card, but no registers were open, just the self check out lanes. I asked a cashier who was not opened yet if she could help me with the purchase of a gift card. She asked..."Is it 7:00 AM yet?" I was standing there thinking what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? Then she replied..."Yes, it is 7:01, I can help you now." Really????

Out of all the neighborhood Walmarts I've been to, this is probably the best one. It is always very clean, and I'm always pleasantly surprised by what I can find here! Just cause they are a neighborhood Walmart, doesn't mean they aren't efficient. On days I plan to go to regular Walmarts, I sometimes can just stop by here and be able to check everything off my list then I can just head on home!

I frequent Walmart and I am always so pleased with the workers and availability of the items. Each and every worker I have come in contact with is so so nice and helpful. I even had one of the managers walk me to the product I was looking for. I will return for a quick grocery shop.

I hate Walmart super centers but absolutely love neighborhood Walmart. You get all the grocery items and good prices without the mayhem and craziness of a super center. This one in Vestavia doesn't disappoint. It is always stocked well. But occasionally they run out of produce, baked goods and croissants. Employees are friendly considering it is Walmart and the self check out lanes are amazing and plenty. I pretty much stick to 3 grocery stores and they are Publix, Sprouts and neighborhood Walmart. Good amount of parking here. They have a deli here that I once tried and was not impressed with. Wings tasted days old. Traffic light helps with traffic.

Having moved over this side of town I have started to frequent this Walmart location. Always clean and well stocked you can find tons of stuff here including groceries, beer & wine and pharmacy needs and many more. Staff have always been attentive and friendly when I can't find what I'm looking for. Produce and fresh food is good quality. On top of all that you can't go wrong with Walmart pricing.

When I lived over this way, this was my go-to supermarket. So first, I am shocked a review has not already been written. If it had, it probably would have gotten the A-ok three star mark from me. They usually have a decent selection of things. But nothing really stood out. But they have done a huge renovation to the store and I think it gives it enough to bump up another star. I learned about their overhaul when I needed to go to the store from my in-laws. I was shocked when I walked in and there was a huge bank of self checkouts. The produce section is so much bigger and brighter. Which was a huge need for the old one. The store itself seems to have been made more spacious. They upgraded signs and it even seems brighter throughout the store.

Ugh. Terrible. Check yourself out. Bag your own groceries. No customer service. I hate this store and would rather pay more than shop here.

So, it takes a lot for me to ding a supermarket like this, but this one was pretty disappointing. I went in to grab a few things before a meeting, but that was ahrder than expected. My first stop was the deli. One person in front of me getting 2 things. Ten minutes later, I was just getting my 2 items. Proceed to the rest of my shopping and several items were out of stock. The self-check out station was VERY slow to process transactions, and when there was an instance where I needed a customer service rep to address an issue with the checkout, there was none to be found. I aske a cashier from an adjacent lane if there were any on duty, and he was friendly, but was busy with his own customers. Eventually, when a rep came to HIS lane, the cashier came to mine and helped me, but the girl who ALSO needed help next to me waited even longer. Long and short of it, got about half what I needed, almsot missed my meeting which was right across the street, and still had to go to another store after the meeting. Won't go back. The one star remains, well, because you can't go lower, and the staff were nice, though not terribly helpful.

I'm so happy to have this store within a mile from my apt. Very friendly employees and the pharmacy is great. You don't deal with the crowd and long lines here as you do at the larger wal mart stores. Very clean and items are easy to find. I will be a regular at this location.

The night staff is terrible there, especially the front end manager, some curly headed older lady. They try to rush you out of the store (even telling me when I walk through the door that they close in 15 minutes, though I've been shopping there for 7 years now, instead of just greeting me like they should). They've also made comments about how long my husband was taking when I'd be standing in line waiting. We both work evening shift and to save time, we'd split up to get the few items we needed. I even had the store manager help me find something one night, which ended up taking longer than expected, so it was 12:01 when I got to the register and they were closing up. Thankfully he showed up right afterwards. Otherwise I'm sure they would've made me leave without my items. The ONLY reason I still shop there is because it's so convenient to my house.
