They were great, the only downside was we had a difficult time returning the vehicle, only because we were not knowledgeable of the local area. If we return and decide to rent again, we will go with Alaska 4x4 Rentals

Upon arrival in Anchorage at Alaska 4x4 rental desk we were greeted by the friendly professional staff who promptly got us underway in our jeep. The jeep was clean and in new condition, exactly what I wanted to handle the winter weather conditions. The return was so easy and the staff were very kind. I would definitely recommend using Alaska 4x4 anytime you visit AK!!

I had a great experience with Alaska 4x4. They went out of their way to answer all my questions about a long term winter rental while I set up a complicated trip: everything from winter tires, to child seats, gravel road driving, mileage and insurance. Can't fault the service or the vehicle. Excellent all round and would be my first pick if I make it back to Alaska.

I made reservation with Alaska 4x4 months before our arrival last tuesday (well within spring break). We were greeted by a great lady named Jane and she assisted us with the process in signing off the Jeep Wrangler for 4 days and also explained the insurance options available for the duration of the rental period and actually saved us a few dollars. Amazing customer service! The Jeep Wrangler was clean when we got it from the garage but I should have guessed that it would be a tight squeeze with for 3 large boys (adults actually) sitting at the back. Next time we'll get a bigger SUV. Return process was a breeze. Just returned the vehicle with gas topped off and the keys back to the counter. That was it! Thanks, Jane!

I would give this company a zero of I could. My recommendation is that you only go through this company if you don’t have an early morning flight. They lied to us which is very unprofessional. We called the car company when are flight was delayed to let them know we were arriving very close to closing time and they assured us that someone would be there to rent us the car. This was after expediting the payment and insurance process in advance. At 7PM they told us not to worry and that someone would be there to get us the car. They close at 1 AM. We got there at 12:50 and no one was there. We called multiple times and no one answered. The closed up slightly early despite telling us that they would be there.we asked 3 other car companies that were still open if they had available cars and LUCKILY only one did. I recommend Budget. It was cheap and easy and still got all wheel drive that does great in March weather

We rented a Jeep Wrangler while vacationing in Anchorage. Using Alaska 4x4 was so much more enjoyable than using a typical rental car company. I also felt much safer having a 4WD when it snowed. Service was very friendly, highly recommend!

This company is absolutely un-American and could careless for the safety of their customers. This summer, I attended a Military Veterans' caribou hunting trip hosted by a non-profit organization. We used Alaska 4x4 to rent a transport vehicle to get us up and back down the Haul Road. All was well until our return trip from the Arctic when the engine siezed up and died randomly without any warning or check engine light. We never took the van off road. We never drove in a negligent or reckless manner. We never struck any objects. This was simply a mechanical failure that left 10 US Military Veterans stranded above the Arctic Circle with a storm bearing down. We used satellite communication devices to get ahold of Alaska 4x4. Their first reaction to our call for help was to inform us we were going to be over due returning their van as a result of our misfortune. It should have been an immediate show of compassion for our circumstances. It took 19 hours for Alaska 4xr to finally send a tow and replacement vehicle. They were unorganized, unfriendly, and unconcerned for our safety. The tow driver they sent was a rude Russian fella who tried to charge us more for his services as if we were in some 3rd world country. It was an argument the whole time, and several of us were forced to hitch hike back to Fairbanks. After all of this, they had the nerve to charge the non-profit for the massive repair bills and accused us of lying about how the vehicle was being driven. They are horrible people who lie, leave humans beings stranded in remote places with no concern for their safety, and then accuse our nation's veterans of lying for no good reason.BOYCOTT these unpatriotic jerks! Unbelievable!

Great company. Arrived in anchorage to find my national car rental company would not allow me to take my rental to Fairbanks. Went to Alaska 4x4 and they took care of me. Got great advice. Vehicle was clean and well optioned. Thank you Alaska 4x4.

Friendly local service with capable 4x4s - they understand the climate and the terrain and will equip you better than the national brands for exploring Anchorage.

I reserved a rental for a truck and got to pick up a Chevy Silverado for my trip to Anchorage and Alyeska. I knew having a bigger car with 4WD was a must in the winter conditions and this car was perfect for our ski trip! My flight got in late at night but the desk was open, and the check in process was extremely quick and straightforward. The drop off was also very quick and easy, and overall a very pleasant experience! Highly recommend!

They canceled my reservation a day before I needed a vehicle and had everything pre booked over a month in advance. It added a very unnecessary level of stress to my trip.

Was very disappointed woth service at Anchorage Airport. Nobody on duty when I showed up at the time I had listed on my reservation and others were already waiting for the person to show up. When they did finally come I waited 45min while they helped ONE person in front of me before finally giving up. Vehicles are good for Alaska roads with unique selection of option, however they are not as new as some of the other agencies. I feel the pricing is competitive, however.

I rented from the Fairbanks location and dropped off in Anchorage during one of the coldest parts of January. The online booking process was easy and the communication was great. They do require proof of personal auto insurance because of their lenient vehicle usage policies, so make sure to have a copy of that on your phone when picking up. Their insurance offerings were reasonable. At the end of my trip, the car battery died and we were locked out of the vehicle. After contacting the Anchorage location to explain the situation, the regional manager, Ryan, reached out to inform me that a tow truck was on the way with a replacement vehicle. The entire process was completed within a few hours. I was very impressed with the prompt action and great communication from Ryan and the rest of the team. It's not uncommon to experience automotive issues in sub-zero temperatures, so it's important to be aware of the risks involved when renting. Alaska 4x4 made the process easy.
