Alaska auctions has assisted me for many years to sell the extensive collection of memorabilia from my late husband. They have done a wonderful job of making sure that the items are displayed and described on the website.

I have purchased perhaps a dozen or more lots on auction over the past year and found that the company accommodated very well my non-standard shipping and pickup preferences. Very pleased.

My experience is still being worked out and was and is beyond horible!! If you could rate with negative stars I would. I had multiple items and sets of glassware evan crystal ,a signed and numbered picture and much more. Was all dropped off together however only one item sold under my name on top of it missing the signed picture and some porcelain.

2 Dec 21, I purchased 2 Murano Style Clowns for $11.90 + $90.53 for shipping. I received the items 10 Dec 21 the package was damaged and the contents completely unsalvageable. I contacted the company immediately and sent photos with the email. I was told that I would have to file a claim with the Post Office for the damage "due to extra bubble wrap we used, this is a claim you will have to file with USPS." 6 Dec 21, I received a letter from the Post Office asking me to produce the box and damaged items. I took to the box to the Post Office in my city and had a lengthy conversation with the Post Master. He stated that the insurance is a binding contract between the seller and the USPS that my claim would be denied but he would submit and that I produced them for inspection. The claim was denied again and I appealed. It was denied again. I am the buyer who received damaged items and spending my time and energy for item's I paid for and the auction house did nothing. I was told that I could file a report with the USPS and they would investigate why I was advised it's my responsibility to file the claim or I could dispute the credit card transaction. I opted to file a dispute with American Express and produced all the documentation showing the emails, photos and responses from the USPS. I received a refund from AMEX based on the dispute and supporting docs. Yesterday, I was declined on the platform from auction house in California and another in Hudson Fl. I received a nasty email from an auction house in Hudson Fl siting I was permanently barred from bidding at their auction house because of a charge back. I had never bid at either auction house before but have an extensive purchase history with several vendors and am expanding parts of one of my companies. I contacted Hibid today, after speaking with customer support I discovered that auction houses communicate on the platform privately and while most keep their auction information private this house at the very least made my information public. Since the platform can't access the information and it's clear at least two houses know about a credit card transaction dispute it's unclear what information was put out there. I think it's important to inform people that your purchasing information can be shared with others with out your knowledge and it can be weaponized if you decide to dispute a transaction because they used extra bubble wrap.

They have neat items. I use to buy in person when I lived there, since look online and have bought stuff. The issue is their attitude. I've bought around $35-40k in items in my time. When you call and try to pay for $8k in items with multiple credit cards they get all angry because your giving them money! Not everyone has $8 grand laying around on one card or account, but get upset because you have to run 3 cards AND your making $1200 in commission is absurd! Also takes 3 days for them to get stuff out the door so if your wanting shipping, plan for 6-8 days to get it at your door. It's been months since I bought because all I think about is their attitude and hassle I'll get from them. Sad!You can tell from their response to my review the attitude you'll get. No ownership of how they treat people, it's your fault. They will state rediculous objective phrases like you've never been there as they try to hunt you down for the reviews you give however I've seen the top hat in person more then once. Still amazed they are around since I lived there.

The ONLY auction company in Anchorage I trust to sell for me! Ive done business with them all, and Duane’s is by far the best. If you’re looking to buy or sell, stop here first! The auctions are consistently good and the folks are easy to deal with. With the decades of experience they have, they’ll work best for you. It’s hard to find a well-run, decent, and honest auction, and I’d say this is the ONLY one in all of Anchorage. On a personal note, I’ve bought and sold many items with Duane’s over the years, and will continue to do so. They’re responsible and adult in their dealings. I appreciate a business that is run this way. In my dealings with the other auction house in Anchorage, it is run with a childish attitude of “we are always right, and we will ban you if you disagree”. I won’t do business with them any longer, and that bad experience has given me more of an appreciation for Duane’s. There’s a reason Duane’s has been around for so long - give your business to him and you’ll be in good hands! Experience and maturity are truly priceless in this line of work!- A. Blanks
