This place is a treasure to know about and wonderful & convenient to work with! We needed to add equipment to what we had already rented and they made it easy and worked with our schedule in order to pick them up. Every excursion we went on- the guides were impressed with how well we were outfitted. Highly recommend ?

Do NOT rent ski (esp backcountry) equipment from this company. As a backcountry skier, I am appalled by their so-called safety standards. We ONLY got down safety because we had extra gear and experience. This would have been a very different story otherwise.Four of my friends rented backcountry equipment for their first ever tour from this place. Dave gave one of us a broken splitboard and only realized it was broken after we pointed it out. He refunded us, but we were offered little help in finding other gear.Suiting up, we noticed they rented out a recalled PIEPS beacon to my other friend. We felt uncomfortable bringing it and swapped with an extra BCA beacon we had on hand.Once we were transitioning on the summit, we realized my friend's right binding wasn't fitted for his boot and wasn't able to properly clip in. Luckily, some strangers had an allen wrench on hand so we could tighten the binding. Without this, he wouldn't have been able to ski down.Our other friend's splitboard bindings were also improperly fitted to her boots, causing a pretty uncomfortable ride downhill. We raised these concerns with Dave when we returned and were met with little acknowledgement or sympathy. He also couldn't actually answer if the boots had been tested or if a torque test had been completed. I am not sure if Dave even knew what a torque test was, which is standard for all ski shops.It's abundantly clear they don't properly test their ski gear nor have the knowledge to provide these rentals. The backcountry is nojoke. Please save yourself a broken leg or failed avalanche rescue and rent from somewhere else.

We just completed a week long trip to Alaska during some of the coldest temperatures. We had a low of -40 while on a glacier hike and our high temps never went above 0. As we live in the southeastern United States we do not have the gear needed for such extremes. Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental was a pleasure to work with. They took into consideration what our planned activities were and the predicted weather. They were available to answer all my questions and offered great advice. Our gear was waiting for us when we arrived at our hotel in Anchorage and was picked up from our hotel in Fairbanks. The gear was clean and in perfect condition and more importantly kept us warm for all of our adventures!

I rented an Extreme Cold Gear Set from Dave Jan 25-31st. Dave sent specific directions which were very easy to follow, picked up everything in fantastic condition and we were off. Not once during the week when wearing any of the gear was I cold. Weather was -40/-44in Fairbanks and then windy/snowing in Seward coming off Resurrection Bay. Would Highly recommend Dave and any of the packages he has to offer. I loved the Kavik Jacket so much I hit Big Rays before I left and bought one.

From the time I contacted Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental, they were extremely helpful. I had to modify my order a few times but it was never a problem. We rented winter clothes for our grandkids coming from Florida and it was seamless process. I would definitely recommend this company.

Wonderful people who made sure I had the right equipment to have fun doing a sport I've never done before.....got me the right size equipment the first time..... I will try to post so videos of me learning how to ski if I can figure it out...what ever equipment you might need they seem to have everything give them a call first...

Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental was so helpful in making my visit to the Kenai comfortable and safe. My partner and I couldn't fly with bear spray, but we also didn't want to buy bear spray just to have it on us for a week before abandoning it at a second-hand gear store or with a friend. I did get a little confused trying to use a less-than intuitive online reservation tool, but that was quickly sorted out with a phone call. Alaska Outdoor Gear Rental helped us out because they rent everything we could have ever needed to enjoy the great outdoors at a wonderful price and with very responsive service. We'll definitely be booking with y'all the next time we visit!

We rented a pair of waders for a family member who was visiting Alaska. Amazing service, so easy to set up, pick up and return the rental waders. Great quality, price, ease adding another day and even accommodated our need for a special size. Would highly recommend this business!

I've rented bear spray from this store for the past 3 years and the process is always very quick & simple! :D They seem to be equipped for almost any kind of Alaska adventure :)
