Alaska Regional Hospital has served Anchorage and surrounding communities for over 60 years, employing more than 1,000 staff members and offering a wide range of specialties such as cardiology, neurology, women’s care, oncology, and robot-assisted surgery. Patients generally praise the hospital for its caring and attentive staff, including nurses and doctors who answer questions and provide clear explanations of procedures. Many reviews highlight the quality of care during surgery, recovery, and hospital stay, with some noting the excellent attitude of the rehab team and the high level of overall service. However, there are areas that need improvement. Several patients experienced issues with communication between doctors and nurses, leading to confusion about surgery timing and delays in food and water intake. Family members also felt left out of crucial updates, and discharge planning was often inadequate, leaving patients feeling stranded or unprepared for post-hospital life. Some reviews mention that hospital beds need upgrades, especially for larger individuals, and that food quality could be better. Despite these concerns, many patients appreciate the efforts of the staff, describing them as doing their best with available resources. Overall, Alaska Regional Hospital is recognized for its strong clinical services and dedicated personnel, but enhancing communication, discharge procedures, and patient education would significantly improve patient experience.
my mom was admitted through the ER. the hospital was full so ER kept her two nights before being moved to the MICU. they were SO amazing. the ER kept her comfortable and treated her like family. once she was admitted the health care team was so supportive and attentive. great place and amazing team.
