I have been a client here for over 5 years and I will not be going back. I dropped my taxes off at the end of March. They filed an extension because they would not be processed by the mid-April deadline which is fine. However, they called about 2 weeks before the extension deadline in October and informed us that we owed a pretty substantial amount of money. I also called to check in multiple times throughout the months only to be told they were "still working on it."

I want to share my frustration with Sean at Alaska Tax Service. We have been using their services forthe past several years. Over the past year we have requested information from Sean and received no response. Today, we drove into our appointment that we scheduled back in January, to be left sitting in the entry while Sean could be heard talking about pickup trucks on the phone. I understand that apportionments can run long, but then it becomes inconsiderate to your other clients. After waiting 25 minutes, we left and requested that Sean call us. Still waiting for the call.

At first I was quite worry about having Alaska Tax Service do my taxes, after of years with another more well known company, but my worries disappeared after speaking with Sean who explained why it was taking so long to finish and e-File. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! Sean, you were great! I will recommend you services to my friends and family.

This guy is a good tax man. This year he was really busy and we showed up for an appt. but he said he was behind. Nevertheless, he made up for it and we got our taxes done in a timely fashion. I've used him for the last 3 years and have no complaints.

I was a satisfied and loyal client of Alaska Tax Service for over 40 years before Carter Ellis, CPA, announced in an email he was my new "tax guy" around the time my wonderful friend and accountant Edith Barrowclough died. However, Mr. Ellis never did do my taxes. Instead, he was verbally abusive in our first meeting (he is 45 years younger than I am, and aggressively came within 12" of my face.) He told me to take my business elsewhere. I was shocked and tried to put his unpleasant and unprofessional behavior behind us by writing immediately to ATS President Sean Clapper, CPA, asking that I be allowed to work with a different ATS tax preparer. Sadly, Mr. Clapper never gave me even the courtesy of a reply. ATS never did complete its engagement, and left me on my own. I complained to the State Board of Accountancy about ATS's unprofessional behavior, but I recently found out that Mr. Ellis provided the Board with malicious, false statements about what happened in an effort to avoid being held accountable. It's been a real disappointment to see the business Steve and Edie and their excellent staff built over four decades become so cold and unprofessional. Michel Villon

I have always had very positive experiences with Sean and found him to be a very knowledgeable and responsive accountant. He has given me good advice when needed and been instrumental to helping us get our taxes in order.

sean and his staff are great. Sean has taken care of my taxes for the last 6 years. He is knowledgeable, experienced, personable, and friendly. I process both my personal and business taxes with him. I recommend Alaska Tax Service to anyone needing GREAT tax help and processing.

It's amazing what the right knowledge can do!! As a former Alaskan, am now in Eastern Tennessee, had my tax return done here that involved a "short sale" of my small house. But thanks to college friend, Barbara, she said something to Sean Clapper, who knows the right questions. Now, I don't have a tax problem, and am Not making payments for next 2 years. Would recogmend highly. THANK YOU for your knowledge and great service

I don't know what has happened to this tax service. We got our organizer in early and spent a lot of time preparing it. After that we called Sean several times to see if he had any questions on it and if it was completed. He would not talk to us as he said he was very busy and we could not get any information from him. This was important to us as it made a difference if we would get out stimulus check or not. After many calls without even speaking to him, we had to send in a member of the family to tell him we needed the information. Sean was very rude and this is not very good public relations for someone who owns a business. We finally got the information and finished the tax return. The next day, we finished the return and because we do not have a fax, took it to UPS, and they sent it for us and we have the receipt to prove it. I have seen the way he talks to other people who work for him and they have not gotten an apology from him and that is why they are no longer with his company. He is a very rude individual. Now it is the 29th of May, and we checked with IRS, and they still have not received it. On calling the office, we find that the income tax was still in the office and had not even been sent. They were electronically filing it today. I can't believe that he has done this as we have always paid his bills on time and we will never do business with him again. This is very poor service and we have always recommended his company to other people but we won't do that anymore. We now know how he treats his customers and I don't think he will be in business too much longer if he continues this way. I am sorry we had anything to do with him this year. Marilyn Forrester
