Took a day trip from Anchorage to Seward. The ride was fun and staff was friendly. I would definitely recommend to anyone who has a free day for adventure.

I rode the Alaska Railroad from Denali to Anchorage and it was great. The views were spectacular and dining in the dining car was a great experience. The food and drinks were great, the staff was great, and the cars were clean. Check in was easy, and I didn't have to worry about my bags because they went straight from my hotel to the train. Getting the bags in Anchorage was a little chaotic, but nothing crazy. I highly recommend booking a trip on the Alaska Railroad.

I’ve ridden a few scenic trains before. While the amenities on the train itself are great and stood out over those of other trains I’ve been on, I was disappointed in the experience. I thought it would be more scenic like that of the Cumbres & Toltec Railroad in Colorado. That train weaves in and out of the Rockies and the views are STUNNING. This train however only gives views of the mountains from a distance for the most part and anytime there was anything worth taking a picture of there were too many trees blocking the view. And, oh my god, getting our luggage at Fairbanks took 30minutes and was a huge hassle! There’s no organization whatsoever. The experience was meh.

We choose the Wilderness Express option from Fairbanks to Anchorage. The Wilderness Express are 2 cars at the end of the Alaska railroad train. Same ride, different service and staff. Our guide was really knowledgeable and gave us plenty of warning on what we were approaching and the relevant information about it. We really enjoyed the commentary and the food and drinks. It's a 12 hour train ride, which the staff said not many people do. We loved it, the time went by fast, it did not feel like a 12 hour train ride. Then we took the Alaska train from Anchorage to the Seward cruise terminal. This ride had commentary and food as well. We really liked that you could check your luggage all the way through to the cruise terminal. We didn't see our bags till we got to our rooms. There is no way for these photos to convey the sheer size and beauty of Alaska. If you are considering a trip, go, you won't be disappointed. We got lucky and were there during the 2 - 3 weeks of the year that the colors on the trees change.

A must do and Great way to see Alaska. Guides were friendy and helpful. Bartenders cool. Breakfast is ok. Get Dinner before you get back on Train! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! The dinner served is yuk!-horrendous! 2oz size defrozen rubbery cod fish-what a shitshow! The train rocks around and so will your rubbery codfish food- thats the fun part. I'm guessing people only ate it cuz there were stuck on the train and hungry. For the price they charge me for Gold Star Service...food was like or worse than cheap frozen meals.

We had a blast riding the train from Anchorage to Talkeetna last week. What a great way to see Alaska! The breakfast was wonderful and the Mimosas were even better. We did the gold star experience and were very glad we paid for the upgrade. We spent most of the time enjoying the fresh air on the outdoor viewing platform. We hope to ride other legs in the future.

Wonderful experience riding the train between Anchorage, Seward, and Denali. If you have the time and don’t think you’ll need a rental car, this is a very scenic, relaxing way to travel through Alaska. The Gold Star service was definitely worth the splurge.

So geek out as I rode this train ride from Seward to Anchorage. If you are in a hurry, just take the bus as it wouldn't take 5 hours long. But if you want to enjoy the sceneries of the last frontier, take this 5 hour-train ride. I enjoyed every moment of it. The train staff were (Johnny Rocket and Daniel for our cart) hilarious and entertaining. Johnny was very knowledgeable as he narrated the journey. It was very enjoyable for me.

The Alaska RR is a great way to get around and see Alaska. The ride is very comfortable with plenty of seat room and great views of the wilderness. We rode the train on several legs of our trip and really enjoyed it. The trains were always on time and well coordinated with other activities and events. It was nice to be able to stretch your legs, obtain food and drink, and have access to clean restrooms. Much more relaxing than driving. We would definitely recommend Alaska RR and ride with them again.
