The Alaska Zoo is a charming and delightful place to visit year-round, despite the snow and winter conditions. Visitors can expect to see a diversity of Alaskan animals and birds, with a few international transplants, including river otters, a polar bear, wolverines, caribou, mountain goats, musk ox, deer, coyotes, and beautiful birds like owls, eagles, and ravens. The experience is enhanced by the vast amount of natural habitat and nature surrounding the well-maintained trails. Many animals are rehabilitated or unable to live in the wild, with educational signage throughout explaining their stories. In winter, some animals like bears or big cats may be hibernating, but others remain active and interactive, sometimes even wearing little coats. Highlights often include playful otter, sea lion, and bear sightings, including orphaned moose calves and black bear cubs. The friendly staff care for the animals, and visitors might watch feedings. A quite good little coffee shop is located in the center of the zoo. The zoo is family-friendly, a great spot for kids, and a must for tourists and Alaskans alike, offering a satisfying and amazing experience with Alaskan fauna.
Got a toddler? Go early and let them run themselves out! What a great place. Make sure to bring two quarters and a penny for the souvenir machine near the gift shop, no one has pennies anymore

Amazing zoo with healthy wild animals playing with each other. Spent 3 hours watching polar bears playing in the water, wolves fighting over a toy and black bears hugging each other. Amazing place to visit if you like animals

Very nice zoo with a big variety of animals. Some animals were not present in their cages but the most interesting ones were: bears brown and black, moose, polar bear, tiger, etc.
