Both of the gentlemen who helped me were very nice, helped me a lot with my purchase and were informative and helpful. I’ll be returning to this store for sure. They know their stuff and can help any layman such as myself with any questions they may have. Great selection of guns, ammo, and other products.

The first stop before the hunt! Most of my shopping is done and/or starts with GNG - GreatNorthern’s staff is incredibly knowledgeable and excellent ‘smiths if you need a quick fix, bore sight, or an optic/light or laser mounted on a new purchase. They have the tools, bench and know how to pair your new hardware purchase with the right furniture!I’ve been shopping there almost 4 decades, since my dad bought me an over under .22/410 HR (sp?) single shots each. I’ve since bought everything from my Colt .44 Magnum to my latest hunting rifle - a new 375 H&H.I don’t think you’ll find a better selection of ‘everything’; cleaning kits and drop cloths, AR parts, holsters, ammo (especially unique brass), pieces and parts and springs, and bolt carrier groups. Optic options, red dots and an EDC 22/38 to the tactical 12 gauge able to put 3 1/2” slugs down the pipe - it’s all there. If it’s not, the collective know-how, wisdom, and fair pricing is always available. If you want to upgrade your hardware, they’ll usually be happy to offer you a fair price and/or excellent trade in discount.Tough to find holsters and a well chosen pre-owned selection of products are also available for decent discounts from their new in box siblings.I own a dozen or more, and purchased twice as many from GNG off Tudor and plan to head over today to see if they still have a piece I was looking at before payday;)Definitely make sure you don’t buy until you stop by Great Northern, if they don’t have it - they will know it, transfer it in (FFL) for you and make sure you know why they don’t have it - whether it’s selling too fast or it’s junk!Keep up the great job guys, and keep ‘em in mind if you’re shopping for your next protection in Alaska - where everything comes in extra large outside! Or perhaps it’s personal protection for your spouse or yourself… they can answer your questions and point you in the right direction, even if they don’t have it, they’ll order it for you or send you to a reputable location to get it5/5 stars for many many years now. Great Northern in Anchorage,Boondock if you’re in Eagle River. Either or your second stop ;)

No one in the store when we came in and the two workers behind the desk just looked at us and said nothing. They did say hello to the two guys that walked in behind us. If you want to make sales then you need to learn customer service.

Cool store but unfortunately I bought an SKS from them that would not cycle at all. It said it was in "great condition", but didn't work the way it should've :(

Primers: $185Powder: $65/lbI asked about the higher than normal prices ($100 and $45 being normal) and the response was… we are the only ones in town with these. #pricegougingThey have a lot of reloading stuff. Prices will eventually normalize and I will remember.

They got bought out last year and the future of the shop is secure. Jeff, Neils and the staff seem to have done a wonderful job of what Joe had established. They have a great mix of weird mil surp and modern stuff which is nice. Last 4 times in they have had weird things that are hard to find (Luger mags and 7.5 x55 Swiss). I'm a loyal and happy customer since 1996

Small town feel in a big town. Got powder and primers not long ago, has been my go-to place for black powder. They're under new management and will maybe be a while before they have more.

They have alot of variety of surplus and unique firearms along with the ammo to go with them when available. The only issue is that most firearms are priced a bit too high (especially the ones when they are wear and tear used) as where you can find a similar "new" variant for the same price elsewhere. Ammo is heftier on the price too, surplus and unique ammo I can understand, common ammo not so reasonable. So if money isn't an issue and you're looking for surplus or unique, this is your shop. COIN GUY IS NICE DUDE, BIG THUMBS UP ??

I haven't personally dealt with anybody in the store, but I've held conversations with multiple people on their staff when I was trying to ship some firearms from a family member to myself. Every interaction I had was excellent, and the price was fair. I received my weapons within a week of dropping them off and they were all well packed.

I bought one of the first guns when Joe opened back in the 70’s. Was always a great place and always found things to buy. The last few yrs it went downhill, some of the counter help was rude and i avoided the place. Now, its got a new owner, Neil of Gunrunner's has bought it and its now open under his more than able hands. Neil is great, couldn’t be more encouraged that we retain the best of both worlds here in Anchorage. I would give them 10 stars!!!!!!
