The store is smaller than it used to be, not as much selection. We could really use a Spencer’s gifts. But I love the tshirt options, and I got a cute hello kitty zombie pumpkin mini backpack for a great sale!!! That part I am thrilled with.

Decent store … clean enough and alright employees …. I just wish they would bring back more HORROR merch instead of Bluey crap … Also they run out of Funko pops pretty often and takes them over a week to restock .. other than that … it’s fine

I tried to return a broken item that I had ordered physically and shipped online, but the manager (Falica) told me the item wasn't scanning from the mailed receipt, even though it was printed on the paper. She told me "I need a bank statement to show proof of purchase." So a half hour later I came back with the full e-receipt and she told me "No, I told you bank statement, I'm not returning it." She didn't even look at my emailed receipt that showed the full order. I looked at my bank history, and it had split my payment from two different days, I guess the online part was processed later. Another manager (Bridget, different day) was able to return it after calling the help number, using the same printed receipt, same issue, but was able to make it eventually work.
I feel asking for a statement from a bank is too personal, even more so when someone tried two forms of receipt.

I used to work for Hot Topic; it became a sour place to shop now.While in the store today all I wanted to buy was a can of Gfuel. While in the process of buying it the store manager had told me that “Isn’t it sad that you have to pay full price like a peasant?”, while there were other customers in line aswell as my girlfriend. I had told her how rude that comment was to the customers because that means she’s calling everyone who shops and pays full price a peasant. I told her I don’t mind paying full price and she laughed and goes, “you don’t mind paying full price?”. I told her how rude her comment was and that I genuinely don’t mind paying the price. She took it back and called it a ‘joke’ because I used to work there and had a discount then. I told her “no, that’s highly insulting and rude to everyone here, I don’t understand why you would say that to someone”, she “buried it and that comment was gone, I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings”. I personally quit because of her attitude towards customers and the co-workers I had there. When I worked there she’d tell customers openly how ugly the things they were purchasing were. There’s no excuse for this type of behavior towards people. I felt heavily anxious leaving the store and I’m absolutely baffled about this mistreatment.

My experience with this hot topic was quite terrible. Yet, I would like to say that I was greeted by friendly and chill employees. When I first walked in I was met with a strong stench of body odors. This is not the first time it has reeked of that. The store had an okay selection of anime merchandise, but most of it was out of stock. As I walked along the walls that carried funko pops and stuffed animals, I saw a Pikachu plushie with stains on it. It appeared to have white smudges and it had a hole located under the tail. From this, I can infer that the staff does not do a great job of of keeping maintainence of the items being sold. I set the plushie down and tried to ignore it but as I walked further back to the store, I saw a group of what looked like teenagers aged from 15-18. I just smiled at them as they stared and I proceeded to look at anime posters. They started foaming at the mouth and profusely itching themselves. I was a little creeped out by this, so I asked if they were okay and made sure they didnt need help. All they did was itch themselves and they would not break eye contact with me. I started to call for employees and ask for help but the only reply that I got from them was that the group of teenagers come here everyday and do that when they feel intimidated by another. I was highly confused because at this point they were scratching themselves so hard that there was blood trickling down their necks. I tried to slowly walk away but suddenly one of the teens wearing a dog's collar jumped onto me and started tearing at the flesh in my leg with their bare teeth. I was passed out due to blood loss and that is basically all I can remember. I am in the emergency room currently needing a blood transfer. I would not recommend this store especially for children and people over the age of 65.
