The staff is incredibly kind, knowledgeable, and helpful. The prices are similar to what you would pay online. Very happy visiting here, we always end up stopping by to peruse when we're in anchorage.

This is a great store. All very good quality items and helpful staff. Wish I could find something like them in the Phoenix area.

Never knew this spot existed! I asked 3 separate people where a good place would be to get greeting cards for adults in the 21st century and all three of them recommended Metro Cooks.I wish I knew this place existed when I was restocking kitchen supplies! However, I will say as much of a selection and variety it has, it's all very catered to a more funky, colorful vibe and not so much classy or unique. Most of the vendors I've seen products of elsewhere. Furthermore, this place is huge and yet the organization is extremely cluttered looking and kind of overwhelming. Like going into an antique store where there's not much room to roam. Staff seem friendly, albeit very flustered. Probably because of how much they have to stock! The upstairs seems like empty real estate for how packed the downstairs is.I would shop here again for greeting cards and maybe a small gift for someone but that's about it.

This is a cool store for the aspiring kitchen warrior. It really has everything one could ever need for cooking, and so much more. Le Creuset, blenders, juicers, toasters, espresso machines. It's everything I could ever want as an aspiring meal artiste. It is actually hard to catalogue everything. There are greeting cards, puzzles, games, candles. There are random posters, and signs hung up along the staircase up to the second floor where many more items, usually on sale, are located. Two particular enjoyments:1. The chocolate bar selection. All sorts and types of flavors. Mint, caramel, and my favorite, potato chip. 2. The popcorn kernel selection. Every type of kernel for popping along with all sorts of ingredients to sprinkle upon the exploded kernels. The employees genuinely seem to enjoy their job. They appear friendly with each other and the customers.

Absolute delight to shop at this store. I shake with excitement knowing I'm stopping by. Many top notch brands from which to choose. The displayed items are photo-ready for a professional, high-end, culinary magazine. Finding items you didn't know you needed. Easy to get carried away. Something for everyone, and every home, including pets.

Metro cooks is a cool store to spend an hour in. They have sooo many things you can buy. One side of the store is everything you could possibly want for a kitchen. The other side is fun gift tho gs and other fun stuff you must need for your kitchen. Over the years I have bought a plastic deviled egg holder, a deviled egg squirter thing, a pan rack you have from your wall, extra hooks for that rack, cast irons, various vegetable containers that look like your veggies, a cheese plate and knife, a popcorn bucket that separates all the kernels for you, lots of gift items like unique mugs, cat stuff, stickers, you name it you will find something for a gift if you look here. They are actually competitive in pricing when I google something in store Amazon has it for the same price or maybe the store is 1 or 2 bucks more. But hey no shipping charges and it feels good to shop local. Upstairs is the clearance items so dont forget to browse up there.

I'd love to open the same type of store in Palmer. It's my favorite place to shop.

I came in to pick up a couple items that I buy routinely here, and look around for a couple birthday gifts. However, as soon as I had a couple items in my hand to buy, an older lady was rudely insisting that I put them up front at the counter. Then she followed me around the store making sure I knew she was watching me. She treated me like I was going to steal something; it made me feel uncomfortable. Best place to buy gifts in town, but I don’t think I’ll be back to be honest.

Had a surprisingly negative experience at Metro Cooks today. The week before Christmas, I purchased a coffee maker for my husband as a gift. They didn't have the one I wanted but the one they had was half the price and was the perfect size so I was thrilled with it. The only problem was the floor model was the only one left which worried me some. I *specifically* asked about the return policy since I didn't know how long it had sat out or if it'd been used. I was told I had 30 days to return it as long as I had the receipt. On Christmas my husband opened his gift and tried it out - but it didn't work! I was so thankful I'd bought local and from Metro Cooks. I had never returned anything there but assumed it would be no problem. That changed when we took it back. The first woman at the cash register demanded the credit card the item was purchased with and said that was the only way to return it SO DO NOT BUY ANYTHING AS A GIFT from there unless you plan to be there when it is returned. I mean, you'd think the day after Christmas they'd have the return thing down. Then the first cashier was snapped at by a woman working the other register who also snapped at me. That woman then accused us of "using" the machine and they only take returns of unused items. Umm? That second lady who snapped at us was the one who sold me the floor model and I specifically asked about a return policy. She tried to say that we used it because we put water in the coffee maker and tried to make a cup of coffee? How else would we know it didn't work? Her response, "Exactly! It's used!" She then said she'd have to "try it to make sure it was broken" but never did. She eventually relented somewhat and did refund the money - but it was such a HOSTILE experience. And to be honest, we didn't expect money back - we went in there to buy a $300 coffee maker, a $200 knife and a who-knows-how-expensive jelly roll pan. We walked out with our $149 back and the resolve to never shop there again. I try to shop local and have in the past preferred Metro Cooks over Habitat Housewares but I'll move my business to Amazon before I spend more money at Metro Cooks. In reading other reviews I see customer services has been a problem for years.

I walked in, was asked to put on a mask, turned around, and walked out. If a business wants to enforce masks, thats fine. If a business is enforcing masks because the council says so even though it is not being enforced by the mayor, I refuse to patronize them. I wish them luck.

Best cookware store in town. 95% of the time that got exactly what I'm looking for. It's a bit pricey but that's to be expected since it's a specialty store.Update: I came in today and found exactly what I was looking for. They have a magnificent selection for the holidays.

Staff harassed my wife because her mask was not above her nose despite her medical condition. Exercised our freedom of choice and purchased a +$2,000.00 Jura coffee machine online instead.
