Rarely adequately staffed. The poor workers are overwhelmed by only a handful of people arriving at once. This time only one person is manning all three of the counters for National, Alamo, and Enterprise. Took over 30 minutes to get a reserved car.

Our service rep at the Anchorage airport was super friendly and answered all our questions. The check out was quick and efficient. Checking the car back in also only took minutes due to the excellent staff at the airport.

I consistently have bad experiences there. I've had three years in a row that the desk is backed up. There was a 60 min wait on my vehicle past the reservation time. Enterprise was also backed up (same company). The other companies had no lines.There is no emerald isle. You can't just go get into a car. You need to check in at the front desk, and they pick the vehicle for you. It's not anywhere near as nice as other National locations. I'd consider other car rental options when visiting Anchorage.

Arrived at counter in the middle of the day to get my RESERVED vehicle. "Sorry, a lot of people kept cars late, there are 20 people in front of you waiting for cars". Ten minutes later... "We can't get the cars clean fast enough. Should be about an hour"I walked out to see how many cars were around. They had 75 to 100 cars. Came back in. Lots of people are getting angry. Then the guy working the counter just leaves and doesn't tell anyone a thing. After another hour I asks the woman helping people at the counter next to National. She said his shift was over and she would try to get us cars. I told her about the cars out back. She said, "They're dirty". Told her I didn't care if it was dirty. Another 20 minutes and I got a car.More than an hour and half to get a car when I had a reservation. A dirty car at that. **also, I called customer service in the middle of it all to get some help. They said they would call me back. That was over a week ago and they never called.I rent 2 to 3 times a month for work. I was planning on switching from Avis to National. Not sure now.

National has been my go-to company for ANC. Their cars are spacious and their staff provide flexibility, within respective reason. I am absolutely grateful to Keyon who got us the PERFECTLY sized car for our large group. We were able to get all of our errands done and ended up liking the car so much that we cancelled our shuttle service and extended the rental from 1 day to a full week! Thanks Keyon for making this such a great experience for me and my group!

Arrival to car rental desk, only one person behind desk covering several rental car companies during a what seemed to be a busy time. Approximately 12 people waiting on rental cars with 5 people in line. No rental cars available (scheduled reservation). I waited 2 hours for a rental car- given no choice of selection. The car was dirty inside: dirt and grime on upholstery, dirt/rocks on floorboards. I cleaned the steering wheel and immediate area prior to using. This is not the standard I have experienced at any of National locations

When I showed up to the counter I was told it would be a 1.5 - 2 hour wait, despite my reservation being made weeks in advance. I'm told they can't clean cars fast enough, but after looking through other peoples' reviews it seems like this has been a problem for weeks. I've been renting with National for 10 years and never once experienced something like this. I'll never use this business again.

Very long wait at Anchorage airport to get my pre-reserved car. Took 15 minutes in line, then was told my car wasn't ready. I waited 45 minutes, along with several other groups of people before getting the key and paperwork. Unacceptable. The car itself and drop off experience (off-hours key drop) was ok.

This is not a secure garage location so you have to go to the desk. Also there isn’t enough staff so the wait on a car is typically 40-50min

I’ve shared all of the details on National Anchorage Yelp; however, whomever responds to the National reviews is trying to discredit my review, as they do all bad reviews. Look me up. I’m the only Jesika Harrell in your system. See my review on Yelp explaining all the details about Julie. Contact me at my number listed in my profile if you’d like to discuss it, but I am not listing out all of the details, again. Julie needs to be let go. She is horrible. Do something about it, National Anchorage. Get rid of Julie. I am not a tourist and come to Anchorage very 10 days. Lived in Anchorage for a decade. So, don’t try to gimmick me with “that’s the way it is in Alaska.” No. It is not. But it disheartens me that tourists are greeted by someone as awful as Julie. I know that I am not the first or last person to complain about her. But I do know that, like always, you’ll never do anything about her.

Horrible. The only rental car company to use is Enterprise. The selection of vehicles National has as several locations need repairs and the vehicles they offer in the class meet the very basic meminun requirements. A joke for the rewards system. I regret ever trying National.

Every time I come to this location there is a problem. They seldom have enough cars, or the class of car I reserved “is not available.” The staff is slow and unfriendly. There is no grab and go like national falsely advertises. Maybe it’s time for new management? Do not reserve a car here.See response below: I’ve already contacted national corporate and got the “we’ll look into it” routine. You can see by previous reviews/pictures this is not a one off situation.

The wait time at the car rental here is extremely long . There is a separate section and line for emerald club members but emerald club members are not given a preference . Why even have that line and exclusive membership when you don’t offer it.Each customer is serviced for 30 minutes when the work could’ve completed in 5-10 minutes . Sometimes spending time with each customer is good but not at the rate of making 10 other customers wait in line .We waited for 1.5 hours for our turn being 3rd in line . This is insane and the team needs to learn to move fast and service quickly . Many other people left at the other car service counters while we were still waiting too.

Had a flight change and was going to be late to pick up car. Application had an issue and would not allow change. Called National (corporate) and explained, they said they would extend pickup and assured me car would be available. Arrived on site and was informed that my pickup time had not been altered and that since I was 15min late for original grace period, no cars were currently available (during an event). After complaining to local management they were able to manually override and put me in the car. Local National is great. Corporate National seems to be worthless.
