Great selection of stuff but it’s ridiculously overpriced. Was looking for boots and the ones I wanted were literally double the price I’d found online. Also they don’t price match so ordered the boots online instead.

This location is now quite dicey with security guards needed at both entrances/exits. The overall product selection is rather poor. With all the gear intensive activities here one would think they would have a good selection of large and extra large duffels/bags, they don't. Same goes for footwear. REI stores appear focus more and more on clothes and have strayed from their climbing roots. Luckily AMH is nearby.

I’ve heard this store has racially profiled people before. But to hear a friend who happens to be African American who’s a pillar to our community be racially profiled at this store just makes me livid. My friend went in to purchase a duffle bag and look at some other things when she spotted a plains clothes security guard following her. The worker who was showing her the duffle bag when she said she was going to buy it he told her she needed to be escorted up to the register when he had just let another white customer before her go to register without an escort. This is sad and sickening to me that this is happening in this day and age. My friend has a heart of gold and did not deserve to be treated this way. I’m happy she called into the store to make management aware of this. I hope REI changes their policies or else I won’t be shopping there anymore.

Best REI I've ever seen. Stopped for gear on the way to Denali. Had great stuff in the used gear garage. Super helpful staff with questions on local hikes and Alaska outdoors in general.

5/18/23 Kelsie went out of her way to find my member number because a previous employee entered my new phone number in wrong. I didn’t want to hold up the line but she made me feel I was a priority. It took a few minutes for her to find and I ended up getting what I went in there free because of rewards. She was great.

I’ll start with the bike shop my favorite part! The technicians are amazing and the shop is clean! They saved me from trouble fixing my bike (fast quality long lasting repair!)The employees are always extremely friendly and helpful! Everything is easy to find and priced reasonably for Alaska! The camping/ cooking sections are always stocked well! We recently purchased a propane tank that was cheaper than Amazon! The padding section is always stocked with rad paddles and today I found a large assortment of colored leashes! The return policy and process is seamless always considering the customer before the store! The solar and batteries section is fully stocked with great options and accessories!I purchased my first solar panel kit yea x I’m very satisfied with everything! We love coming here as a family, it’s always fun and safe for kids to look around together without parents! I’m sure that on the future our kids will shop here weekly!Customers life!Noveske family

This store is much bigger than what they used to be after the changes. Still overall a great store for outdoor equipment and supplies. Would often come here for camping equipment that has served me well and now looking for shoes for hiking and trail jogging. While looking, the staff has been very welcoming and helpful in finding shoe options for my needs and requirements. Despite the pricing, I would recommend going here for camping, running/hiking, biking, and other activity equipment.

Came to REI today to get a cheap $20 headlamp. They were locked up so you have to find an employee to unlock them for you now (I’m sure they will have the bathroom doors locked with codes any day too), but the employee took the headlamp and stood there possessively holding the headlamp until I listened to his sales pitch about an offer they had (clearly knowing I was in a hurry), before finally bringing it to the front. I feel disrespected that he would subject me to that and not respect my desire to just checkout. I want autonomy, so I won’t be shopping here anymore honestly- his treatment combined with the new lock-up of cheap items just ruined it. I feel like it’s the new Walmart of outdoor gear- ghetto.

Jeff was FANTASTIC! He helped my girlfriend and I get a new pair of downhill skis, ski boots, and bindings. His expertise was very much appreciated in buying all of our gear. He was willing to go back and forth getting ski boots for us to try on and helped us confidently buy the gear that was a right fit for the two of us. No “salesy” pressure, just competent advice. Love the customer service here!

Good selection of stuff and they usually have shoes/gear in the size I need. The employees on the floor are usually helpful and easy to find. The thing that gives me the ick is the aggressiveness of the cashiers to join the membership program. I don't like being berated by people telling me what I "should" do with my money. I get that its a good program, but the push to join is really overbearing, especially when I only go in to look for new gear maybe three times a year and I have a budget that I'm trying to stick to. An extra $30 is not insignificant. When you say no to having one, and no to wanting to sign up thats where the conversation about it should end.

This place is the truth and can be dangerous due to their great deals. I love the fact that you can buy something, take it out and battle test it and if you don’t like it return it with no questions asked. It’s also only $20.00 for a lifetime membership. God bless America ?? and REI.
