We were camping and stayed at an RV site. They have power, firewood, water, and showers available. Great food and coffee at the main shop and restaurant. Very friendly and helpful people there.

Good stop for 1-night, although campsites are expensive. Wi-Fi was not really free as advertised-it was limited to 100mb per 24 hr period which was misleading and disappointing. Good cafe and well stocked gift shop.

Incredible experience! Chicken is one of the coolest small towns in Alaska. Chicken Gold Camp is a great place to stop in, camp short or long term and look for gold. Facilities are top-notch, and the store is the best curated gift shop in all of Alaska. There's literally a gift for everyone in the family. Make sure you try the food, the coffee and pizza night! And if you're lucky, grab a ticket to Chickenstock, which is a fabulous music festival that is held every summer with Chicken Gold Camp!

Chicken is VERY remote with a population of 12 according to the census. (More in the summer season) There is zero cell service. They have Wifi vouchers but I couldn’t get it to work on my iPhone. The sites are electric only 30 amp sites. There is a spot to fill your tank or containers with water. There are pit toilets and the showers cost $1/minute in $0.25 intervals. This is the place to stay when coming or going on the Top of the World Highway to/from Dawson City. There are gold panning activities too.

I am totally flabbergasted! Back in 1985 after just getting married, I was twenty-five years old. My new wife and I drove up to chicken with all our gear for mining, food and building tools. All there was at the time was the little gravel road went to chicken and a tiny little store. We drove up to an old house that old lady owned that wrote a book and I can't remember her name. She told us we could park on the property for the summer while we hiked in 40 miles to 5 claims a friend wanted me to check for the summer. It took us about three weeks to go up and down and up and down and up and down the the mountains. Fighting deep tundra, rain and wet tents on our way. We finally got to our destination. It was a tiny little creek that ran into the Yukon river. There were old cabins and flood dams to wash away the over berden so they could pick the nuggets off of the bedrock. We built the cabin cash and a shower, it took us a good month to build. It was a lot of hard work. We came out with 10 oz mostly nuggets. Anyway, Chicken was just a tiny little store and the old lady's house. I'm sorry I keep calling her old lady, she was famous for living in the area in the old days and she wrote a book. Anyway, I can't believe there's an airport, more stores, camping, motels, it is actually a town now. It totally blows my mind! My ex lives up there in wasilla and she has all our photo album that I wished I could see again. It was an amazing adventure, good times and bad. Like I said: IT TOTALLY BLOWS MY MIND!

I visited chicken gold camp for two days in July this was a very unique experience. Being away from the busy city life and able to disconnect from it all was extraordinary. I stayed in their apartment which had all the amenities including a full kitchen! The only setback from the place is their timed shower which of course I understand because of the need to conserve water I definitely learned how to keep my showers short and efficient! We took advantage of a day of gold searching which was a once in a life time opportunity at least for me since I live in Florida. I am looking forward to returning to chicken in the future something I never thought I would say prior to staying at the chicken gold camp. Amazing place the staff is very friendly and they make great coffee!

Chicken was one of the highlights of our Alaska trip! Nice time there and at the mine for a day :-) we didn't find a lot of gold as it was our first time but it was really fun!

Best area I have found for gold panning. You can rent equipment and they will transport you to panning sites. Very helpful at teaching you how to find gold. Don't expect to get rich but you will find placer gold. Historic dredge on site is very interesting. Campground is nice, showers available. Outhouse for restrooms. Great gift shop and super friendly. Town of chicken also has a gift shop, saloon, and Cafe. 8 hours above Anchorage. Very remote.

Our RV spot was exactly what was described when we booked, spaces are tight but adequate. There is a cafe on site, but the opportunity to pan for gold or even have an authentic gold mining experience is the best reason to stay!
