What is the deal with the stench. It has never been this bad in the past on the highway or an eagle river. I remember being able to smell it sometimes especially on certain weather days. But now every single time I drive past the way stations. I can't breathe and I know i'm not alone

Had a bunch of carpet demo scrap. Loaded it all into a uhaul and easy in and easy out!! The positive - A fair price I would say to dump as much as I did. Plus you gotta love just toss and drive away kinda of place.Negatives, if you have never been here before the signage on where to go is terrible to NONE! Wow…then you need a mandatory reflective vest. 5 dollars to buy one at the scale if you don’t have one….yes I bought one they leave you no choice. Well better than getting plowed over.

Thought I had everything loaded perfectly this time and after a 30 minute wait to drop off brush the worker at the weigh station told me he could see I was trying to sneak in lumber. I asked what he was referring to. He pointed out a small piece of 1/2"x4"x2" cedar. I asked if I can throw it in my truck to hang on to and he said to do that I'll have to wait through the line again, or I can pay to dump the lumber. He was a complete jerk the whole time and was accusing me of trying to sneak lumber in. Pretty upset with that service.

Followed my co-workers to help unload. They would not let me park inside property to help them unload. Told me I had to park way over at the park and ride in walk over. By the time I got over there my co-workers had already left off and I was unable to help them unload lady was very rude about it and even rude to my co-workers to them. I do not recommend coming here unless you have to. The people here are very rude. Wednesday 9:27 a.m. May 31st 2023

Active duty military is not free as I was told when I called the city. Apparently Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson only counts on the Richardson side. Army dumps free. Air Force is paying. My son is active duty Air Force, so I told him let's dump here, it won't cost you anything. But it did. Thanks for your service. Plus the people were unpleasant a holes

Dude at the gate was straight forward. He said, strap it down and come back. I strapped it down, paid and dumped it. All good.

Just hang up, they won't answer. I wish they could answer the phone. "Your position is line is 1. You expected wait time is 1 minute". 8 minutes later, just hang up.

The female attendant working on October 22, 2022 is extremely rude. I have never interacted with someone there that was that nasty while just checking my ID....maybe she was having a bad day...but yikes.

I called the customer service number for the day before and asked if the landfill could take our blown in insulation. The customer service employee on the phone said yes, I could dump there. I would need to weigh in and wear a safety vest. I have a safety vest, a truck rental, and a maps app. How to get there was taken care of. I also asked specifically that insulation from my house would be able to be taken. I was concerned as it is an older house. While the fiberglass insulation was not the kind that probably contained asbestos, I did not want to break any rules. Customer service assured me that, yes, for residential dumping I could dump it.The next day I went to the landfill with my load and was told by the gate/weight house employee that we could not dump this and that they could not help us. The employee was unkind in telling me to leave. That was too bad that the customer service had been wrong the day before on the phone, but these things happen. When I asked how to leave, and if there was a good place to turn around the employee's explanation of a U-turn was paired with an eye roll and scoff. I left and called Mat-Su to see if they could take it. It would be 2+ hours' time in driving, in addition to the time wasted going to Eagle River. The customer service employee there transferred me to a supervisor who told me that Anchorage should have accepted my load, but if Anchorage turned us away, they would be happy to help us at the Mat-Su landfill.I called Anchorage waste again, because the Mat-Su supervisor seemed so sure it was not correct that we had been turned away there. I asked again if they could take my load of insulation, was told again, yes, they could. I explained the situation, and that we had been turned away and asked for assistance in making sure I was doing the right thing. I was given the phone number for someone at the landfill that could help me by pre-approving the load.I called the number I had been given and was told the weigh house would have my name and I should be good to go.I arrived at the landfill, and they did have my name. This time I only said "yes" when asked if I was 'my name' when I pulled onto the scale at the weigh house. I did not say anything else to the weigh house employee. The weigh house employee, a different one than the first time I was there, then said "See, this is what you needed to do the first time."What that gentleman said was uncalled for and hurtful. I did not know what I was supposed to do. I am not a contractor or other expert. I did everything right the first time, calling and asking and double checking. It was not my job to know the insider information needed to dump there. It was the weigh station employee's job to give me the correct information. It is also, as far as I understand customer service, the employee's job not to make sarcastic and demeaning comments to community members.I should have asked to speak with a supervisor, but I do not do that sort of thing, and I had already spent an additional hour of time and I needed to return my rental truck. I unloaded my trash in the correct area, weighed in, paid, and left. I felt hurt driving away that the weigh station employee was so bothered I did not know what I was supposed to do to call and get pre-approval. I still believe that my previous call the day before should have been good enough. If you need to dump something at the Eagle River site, I think it best to call and ask to speak to a manager or supervisor and get pre-approval so that they at least will help you if you do not know how everything works. Also, be prepared for rude and unkind verbal interaction.

This place is a dump! Get it? Anyhoo, had to visit here to drop off some unrecyclable demolition stuff. A landfill is a must visit once in your life!
