I have been a loyal customer for approximately 9-10 years. We have spend thousands upon thousands of dollars with the VCA. When my dog, Mia, died, I rushed her to the VCA. I was distraught. Doctor Martell commented on her ear surgery conducted several weeks prior, stating "well, her ear looks good." This was not a kind response to a dead dog. I was stunned by this response since it was a reflection of her surgical skills rather than the loss of our family member. However, I chalked this up as an awkward moment when dealing with grief. I paid for my dog to have cremation services through the VCA. After this encounter, we continued to utilize VCA. I asked about nail cutting services. I was told that there was no fee since our dog just had a physical examination. Otherwise, I take our dog to PETCO for nail grooming. After the appointment, I was not asked to pay, which is a standard of services every time I have been to the VCA. I had every reason to believe the services was taken care of financially. Weeks later, I receive a bill for grooming services so I called to inquire. During this time, I refused to pay, because of the misinformation. They responded by saying then we'll send it to collections. This is not how you treat a loyal customer. At times, the VCA has lost its connection with the families and are focused largely on money.

I have been pleased with the care I have received over the past year and a half but required nothing more than just routine checkups. I recently visited for one of these routine appointments and upon checking out, I was informed that I had an excess balance in my VCA Care Club account that would expire soon and the asked if I would like any lab work completed since I haven't had any since moving here in 2022. I told them sure I would like to run the lab work since the excess funds do not roll over. They took my dog in the back to draw her blood and after a few minutes, brought her back out and said she was all done and she did fine. They proceeded to hand me supplies to get a urine sample when I can and bring it back to them. A few days later, I received a phone call saying all of her labs were unremarkable and that her fecal sample was also normal. I questioned the fecal sample because I did not take a fecal sample in with me. I was first told that she went to the bathroom in the back, I questioned this because this is not my dog's normal behavior. I was told they have a run in the back and she went in the run. I didn't drop her off so there was no reason to put her in a run when I was waiting in the office. A week later I was able to take them the urine sample they requested, and I also took them a fecal sample from my dog that morning. I explained that my dog was having diarrhea recently and was suspect about the results of a fecal sample that I did not bring in, and was never even informed that one had been taken. The front desk associate was very polite and went to speak with the office manager. The front desk clerk came back a few minutes later and said she spoke with the office manager and the office manager said the urine sample would be covered under my VCA care plan, but if I wanted the fecal test rerun, it would cost me an additional $125.00, and the original fecal sample had been manually extracted. So now I'm getting two different stories of how the fecal sample was obtained and the office manager whom I'm sure wasn't present for the supposedly manual extraction didn't even have the courtesy to come out and speak with me herself.I'm currently awaiting a return phone call, but I am very disappointed that I was never informed they obtained a fecal sample as well as their response to my inquiry.

No WIFI for clients while waiting in the reception area. I asked the young lady at the front desk for WiFi password and she said she had “ No idea”?

Awesome service. They get booked up, but can easily be contacted and scheduled. They also have awesome hours that extends past the usual end of day work for most people. The staff is kind and generous.

My dogs love coming to the vet, frequently they'll get stubborn on our walks trying to go inside for a visit. All levels of staff have been great. Helpful, knowledgeable, sympathetic, humorous, and very professional.Only down side is that they're no longer able to do boarding, this is by no means fault of this particular location. Hopefully big VCA can change it back :)

I am so happy to have this clinic and it’s staff as a part of our community! They are a 5⭐️+!! My Kira doesn’t even mind going there; in fact she gets so excited when I pull in to the parking lot because she knows that the treats are always plentiful!

My beautiful little cat George was seen today on an emergency visit for an abscess on his little face. They were able to fit him in within 24 hours of calling . The staff were kind and friendly from the smiling receptionist to the assistant and doctor. They answered all my questions and made me feel at ease knowing that I was worried about my baby boy. We are so very lucky to have such a wonderful bunch of professional animal experts here in Eagle River. They have my business for as long as I live here. Thank you and God bless you VCA Eagle River.

I had family over the day after Christmas, one of my little nephews left a lot of chocolate out unattended and my black lab Ruby decided to help herself to all of it. We were able to get in right away! The staff was really nice and the Doctor was great and gave me a plan moving forward. All done in a matter of an hour. Thank you so much!

Not emergency pet care! By appointment only so if you have an emergency they cannot accommodate if they don’t have an opening.

Had an excellent first experience here. The place is clean. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Noelle was great. Their Care Club seems like a good value, especially if your dog needs a dental cleaning. Glad we chose VCA when we moved here. Highly recommend!

Update: Three years after this original post I had to take my dog in again for non-routine issues and was given the same great care as before. I wanted to post a new review, but could only edit the original. Dr. Rizor (and team) took amazing care of my dog, Elway, this week when I was unable to get into a pet ER. Thanks for continuing to give excellent care all these years!Original: This facility is wonderful! Every person I spoke with either on the phone or in person was caring and felt such empathy when I brought my sick pup in! I called first thing in the morning, and was given a slot within the hour! I cannot recall every members name but the front desk gals, vet tech, and Dr. Rees were all fantastic! They really care about the animals (and humans) that come to see them. Dr. Rees listened to what I had to say about my dogs symptoms and quickly initiated a game plan that had him feeling better fast! She explained the medications and even gave me a pamphlet to read about the drugs she prescribed! This isn’t my dog’s regular vet, but I’m definitely considering switching! Highly recommend VCA in Eagle River!

Dr. Hanlon and the rest of the VCA Eagle River staff have always been so attentive and caring with our girls. We have been coming for nearly 6 years now and can’t imagine going anywhere else for their care.
