“Good branch. Only issue I ran into was that they can be stingy about the condition of the coins you deposit. They may not accept coins that are scratched or discoloured. Otherwise, no problems.”
“Good bank. However the University location is not IN Fred Meyers; it's on the NE corner in the same parking lot. The bank inside Fred Meyers is Alaska USA FCU. The mortgage lending team downtown is top notch.”

“Helpful staff, convenient with many locations and a user friendly site/mobile app. Questions are typically answered and issues resolved, been banking with them since 2017. GCU seems relatively customer focused, though even with a near 800 credit score I've had a hard time with credit card approvals and loan approvals and typically go through other lenders. The front ATM has been out of service when I typically need it too, hoping this isn't happening often though.”

“I was on the fence in deciding what bank to choose when looking for a new home to buy. I’ve been a long term customer with Spirit of Alaska and noticed they had a low-interest rate promotion last year (2025) November time frame. I used their online banking system to submit my mortgage application. I kept my fingers crossed after submitting my application, since I know how lengthy and difficult it can be to buy a home… thankfully Spirit of AK’s team of professionals, Kathy, Mark, and Tony (dream team ) made my experience less stressful. They were transparent, and fast at communicating. I’m honestly impressed. There were some delays in my home buying process that was out of the mortgage team’s control.
