“I returned from a Gondwana Ecotours trip, Alaska: Northern Lights Adventure this past Sunday.. We stayed at the Taste of Alaska Lodge for the week.
As you an see, I have rated this lodge 5 stars, Location is fantastic for Aurora viewing, Owners and staff are top notch and the food was great.
The lodge. is very eclectic and charming. They are currently finishing up an 2nd lodge that looks great as well.”
“We met a tour here and ate here the next day. Food was wonderful
Food and drinks: The food, chowder, halibut, peanut butter pie and drinks were great. We sat in the bar to watch a ball game, but the view was great from the resturant”

“The ladies at the reception desk were all nice and helpful. The room seemed clean except for hair in the shower that wasn't mine. They offer free laundry and free parking, and the hotel is walking distance to a gas station. It's also very close to a Walmart and several restaurants.”
“The location was really nice, quick walk to Fred myers, Safeway and some restaurants. Very convenient when you didn't wanna rent a car. The service was very nice, everyone there was welcoming. We got a car ride from amd to the airport which was amazing! The two who drove us drove very safe. The breakfast was smaller but I enjoyed it. Kept me full for the morning! The rooms were good. Not my favorite. They were clean, pretty small. And the walls were pretty thin we could hear our neighbors pretty well. Beds were comfy, on the softer side. Bathrooms were good. Overall nice hotel! Glad we stayed here!”

“I had an absolutely wonderful stay with my family. Every staff I met was so friendly and were always very helpful. Big shoutout to the lovely manager!
As for the hotel services, my family loved the complimentary food provided. Everything from the breakfast, cookies and coffee were very delicious. Our family had fun just choosing which drink to get from the machine. Just be sure to wake up a bit early for breakfast as it got busy around 6:30 when we stayed there.
All in all, our family had a wonderful time here and would 100% stay again.
Notes for future travelers thinking about staying here
- if you’re not going to be planning to rent a car, be prepared to uber into downtown or grab food beforehand. I’m not too sure if they had food services other than breakfast and some sandwiches in the gift shop in the lobby, but there aren’t any places to eat in the area and we personally had trouble finding uber eats drivers that would deliver (May simply have been bad timing). If you’re catching an early flight the next day or you’re renting a car and transportation isn’t an issue for you, it’s a wonderful hotel.
Small feedback for improvement
- the regular beds were wonderful, but the sofa bed in the accessibility room and the extra bed were a bit uncomfortable.
- the trash box by the elevators were often overflowing (I think it was most likely because people were buying takeout and didn’t want to leave their trash in their rooms), so it might be worth considering having a large bin for throwing away food containers.
But other than that, I had a lovely time here! Thank you again to the wonderful staff who made this trip possible!”
“Nice place with good breakfast offerings. The best part of this hotel is that they offer a guest laundry-two washers and two dryers both coin operated. I wish all hotels had this option.”
“Hotel was fantastic. Are the appliances dated? Sure! Does that matter? Hell no! The beds are comfy, the rooms are clean, and the front desk staff goes out of their way to be helpful. Zach’s restaurant is fantastic. The staff? Incredible. We are so lucky in the United States for all of the workers that choose to come and do seasonal work here. Would stay here 10/10 again on our next visit to Fairbanks.”

“We stayed here on Christmas night and it was a great choice. Plenty of parking, and the location was perfect — close to downtown Fairbanks but also convenient for the self-drive excursions we had planned.
As a Hilton employee myself (in Seattle) I have to shout out Rachel at the front desk. She worked a double on Christmas and was still incredibly cheerful, friendly, and helpful. She’s a true star employee and made our stay even better.
Clean, affordable hotel with nice rooms — would definitely recommend!”
“The rooms are great - only ding is for having an iron but no ironing board, but that's not the end of the world. The rooms are also a little noisy - walls including above and below seem very thin and I can hear a lot of adjacent nose. The staff is great - they're on the ball and are super friendly. Zero issues there. The location is a toss up - there's a lot of big box stores close by, but not a lot of restaurants. It would be good if it were more centrally located, but if it was you'd be getting robbed by the homeless folks. This is kind of out on the edge of town, but over time the area will fill in with more stuff. The restaurant and bar at the hotel are ok, but they're convenient if you get snowed in unexpectedly - which happens. Didn't stay at a restaurant in Fairbanks that doesn't have an in house place to eat. Overall pretty good - I'm not a Hyatt loyalty person but I'd still consider staying here again.”
“This is a great location at a reasonable fee. Owner's are very friendly and always available to answer your questions. An outstanding breakfast is provided daily.
Rooms: Great size for the cost.
Nearby activities: Close to many activities and locations to eat.
Safety: Quiet and safe place to stay. Good area lighting and exterior security camera system.”

“I was lucky to get outstanding view.
Location is great. They have airport shuttle ( better let them know ahead of time when you need to go from hotel to the airport or train station ).
Room was small, but ok for me. If someone would have regular size luggage it might've been a little tricky.
The only issue was the bathroom not too clean. Hair on shower handle, shower itself could have been cleaned even if you do not see visible stain. Usually this issue would put rating down for me, but overall I was happy, so, I will think maybe things happened and it got overlooked. Otherwise the room was clean.”

“I came to Alaska to see the northern lights and the 7 gables inn had a beautiful room with a king size bed and a Jacuzzi bathtub the estate room was nicely priced for someone who decided 10 days before that I was going to book the trip and go”
“Nice and clean hotel, big rooms with fridge, microwave, coffee/tea maker and television. Best breakfast in town at this place, complimentary of course!Rooms: Lots of room also nice and clean.”
“We were so happy to finally arrive here from the airport. We needed to eat immediately before the kitchen closed. The menu was a bit limited. Again, as with all Princess Lodges, everything was terribly over-priced. The place was welcoming but the Queen bed in our room was like sleeping on a squishy sponge. Each movement sent ripples of waves through the mattress disturbing Er your partner’s sleep. I should have slept in the worn-out looking small green chs”
“I had a fantastic experience at the Westmark Fairbanks Hotel & Conference Center in Fairbanks, Alaska. The location is convenient — just minutes from the airport and close to shops, restaurants, and major routes — making it a perfect base for exploring the city and surrounding wilderness”
“Our trip was amazing! We came Oct 3rd. It was snowy and over cast so no aurora borealis lights BUT the bed & sheets as well as pillows were so comfortable, the rooms are warm with heaters, the view of the mountains and snow is INCREDIBLE, and Mok the host is amazing! We arrived around 12:30am- and he had other guests in the lodge waiting for the auroras. He helped us get packed into our room and said we could join in the main lodge so we did! We sat with others looking and waiting. He provides cookies and tea and coffee and warmth! A truly unforgettable experience! We will definitely be back! Make sure you have an AWD vehicle if you are
Coming during snow season!”
