Service not Gossip. The service is not good. When employees pass slanderous gossip about local residents it is quite clear that integrity is not part of their policy. I come to buy things, not to hear gossip and rumors from low caliber persons that should not be working with the public. Miss the old owner who didn't put up with such low level social disfunction. The prices are ridiculous too. Definitely not a place to go unless you are desperate or in a hurry.

Pumps are on 24/7! Saved us on our way home from the Artic Circle. Due to an illness, we had to turn around just before Coldfoot late in the evening and was not able to top off. Thank you!

I'll put this nicely as possible. The not so tall auburn hair, nice rouge and makeup is disrespectful, has no business being in customer service. I spend $$$ every week. I will do my best and so should all others to avoid this particular Tesoro. The beautiful lady with long silver hair is polite and has excellent customer service skills. The other ladies there are nice as well. I've been alive to long to have to deal with smart mouth counter help at a place that's always been great.
Why let one bad egg ruin years of business.

This gas station literally saved us in January. We went to the Arctic circle sign near Coldfoot, and it was -40F almost all the way. On our way back I had already 0 miles left in our rental RAV4, but we made it! Thanks to Tesoro.

Even if you do not normally like breakfast sandwiches, try them here. We ate one and also two muffins, we heard Carol Whitebear makes them all, and we thought about them all day. Would return just for the baked goods.

Don’t trust these people. Called ahead before we got there to make sure we could get propane. Woman gave bad information and when we arrived we were told they couldn’t fill us for 4 hours.

Oh boy. While I cannot complain about the location or selection of beer, the customer service was god awful. Went in to pick up a 6 pack of beer and basically spoke to a wall of sawdust during checkout. Seemed like the woman working there was high as a kite. Yikes. I'll go down to Farmers Loop or Chena Gas next time. Go as a last resort, I guess.

When I am on vacation I also take vacation from buying groceries, so this was a routine stop for me during my stay on Cleary Summit in 2011, 2012 and 2013. I drove right by it almost daily on my way up the hill from Fairbanks, so it truly was a convenient stop. In addition to the usual assortment of convenience-store food--and they have a nice variety--there is a local person who makes sandwiches and cookies that are sold from this location, and I enjoyed having a few of her homemade items in the fridge to snack on while staying up nights watching for the Aurora Borealis. I have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful, and have enjoyed stopping there to pick up a local paper or hear some local news/conversation in addition to gassing up the car or getting groceries. Yes, prices are higher in this neck of the woods but as it is the only store between Cleary Summit and Fairbanks, I am very glad they are there. Looking forward to stopping in again in 2014! Update: Stopped here again several times in March, 2014--as always, the staff was really nice, the selections were good and the local homemade products were delicious.

When you're staying in a remote cabin, 45 min outside of Fairbanks & the roads are all covered w/ snow & ice, Fox General Store is a godsend Realizing we hadn't calculated our rations very well (or maybe it was the resulting overindulgence of being so close to the fridge all day long) we noticed the need for a spot of milk to see us through our last vacation day Fox General Store is at the junction of Steese Expressway & Old Steese Hwy & can be found right across the street from Silver Gulch restaurant There's a gas station w/ free air (an option you won't so easily find in California!) And 1 side of the General Store has all the alcohol & the other side has all the groceries & DVDs.....everything you could need to stock up & hole yourself away in your comfy mountain cabin But be wary of what you get......we got sucked into an impulse-buy bag of chips & only realized after getting back to our cabin that those babies were $6.99! Eek!! One last thing we noticed was that all their frozen options were meaty (pizzas, burritos, etc...) & if we had needed something veggie, we'd have been forced to drive the rest of the way into Fairbanks.......but for a quick milk run & the convenience of being the closest shop, have to say this place was A-OK!
