My six year old niece picked up a comb and brushed her hair (which we all agree shouldn’t happen but she’s a CHILD) and an employee rushed towards her screaming yelling at her to stop. I can’t imagine any situation where it’s appropriate to raise your voice to a child until they are crying and then continue yelling. If you’re that angry, at least direct your anger towards the parents and not a crying child.

My young daughter left bawling after getting reprimanded for using a comb. The worker was horrified that a child wouldn’t know better and was visibly angry and very rude. The store is full of “don’t touch me” and “don’t sit on me” signs. I’ve worked in retail and would never have treated a customer—let alone a child—that way.

Cool stuff and very helpful. A well curated shop of nice things.

Adorable gift shop from what I could tell by peering in from the outside. Would recommend maybe calling before you hike down from Alyeska, as the hours appear to be more whimsical/theoretical than actual. If I ever make it back to this precise part of the world, I really hope to drop a decent amount of cash at this store. It looks absolutely great.

Great little gift shop find. It's a small store but has many gems inside. Definitely recommend if you're looking for a gift shop.

A delightful shop just next to Jack Sprats restaurant. We popped in before dinner and found so many great gift items we spent more there than on dinner and drinks! The store is so well merchandised - everywhere you look is something interesting that would make a great gift for you or someone else! I got tarot cards made by a native Alaskan, cute hair accessories for my niece and unique greeting cards. We went back a second time to see if we needed anything else :) The owners work the store and were super welcoming!

Ooo! What a lovely shop! It truly has a little bit of everything. You’ll find yourself making circles around this Anthropologie-esque boutique...finding new treasures each time. The owner is personable, knows her products, and can help you find the perfect gift - or somethin somethin for yourself. We ended up with hot sauce, a book, and bath salts for my mother in law. Our toddler fancied the handmade wooden toys...so we left with a new car for her. I picked up an organic exfoliator for myself. Everything in this shop is stylish, high quality, and well displayed. Regardless of your price point, there is something unique for everyone - bath and body, skincare, baby/kids, candles, linens, doggie gifts, kitchen and home utensils, cookbooks and so much more!

Every time I am in Girdwood, I look forward to going to Mother Hubbard's for gifts for friends and family (and myself)! The store is in a little log cabin and when you enter the door in winter you are greeted by a wood stove and the delicious smells of the products sold at the store. Beautiful artisan candles and home wares. My favorite recent purchase is Palo Santo wood in a glass jar with a cork stopper and a matching glass jar with matches. The Palo Santo wood smells heavenly and is a nice change from candles. When you go, make sure to eat at the restaurant next door (Jack Sprat).

Great selection of high quality home goods, jewelry, and novelty items, many local artisans. Perfect for gifts and such a great place to go while waiting for a table or food at Jack Sprat next door (they let you bring in your beverage!) It's so beautiful and cozy, I wanted to sit by the fire and chill, but I was too busy buying stuff
