Large breakfasts, great before heading out to skis or snowboard. And then the best soups in Girdwood for lunch. Always friendly staff and great food.Back again in May 2023, after moving to Florida in 2021. Still a great place to eat with friendly service.Even brought our Bake Shop mugs with us for the free Kaladi coffee.

I had a fan-freaking-tasting Reuben sando here not long ago. It came out HOT and smothered in Thousand Island, and tasted so good on a cold, snowy day. The meat was juicy, fresh and very flavorful. I also ordered a side salad which was generously dressed. It paired excellently with the Reuben.I couldn’t walk out without trying their famous Sweet Roll. Nothing short of phenomenal. This bad boy is the perfect combo of buttery goodness, flakiness and sweet. The caramel is light, but a little went a long way. Definitely could taste the anise. Topped with a soft, lemony glaze (not very tangy) and sliced almonds, it’s no wonder this treat is so well known. 10/10 would drop in again.

My husband likes to come here more than I do. It's a small cafe, with an expensive menu. $15 for a BLT that does not come with a side? It's very busy here, and there's ALWAYS a line. However the interior is interesting enough to look at, with local art on the walls, that it makes the wait seem less dreary. So you order at the front, and go find a table, if you can. Today, a friend of mine was in there, and just getting ready to leave so he told me to grab his table, otherwise we'd have to wait till someone else's cleared. I ordered the BLT, husband ordered the bowl of chili and buttered roll. His chili came out very quickly, and i told him to go ahead and eat, because it takes them forever to make a sandwich, and i didn't want his to go cold, whilst he waited for me. I find it ludicrous that they don't serve both parties at the same time. If my sandwich is not ready yet, then hold his chili, till you can bring both meals at once. I am feeling extremely hostile about that, because that's not how it's supposed to work. He had almost finished his chili by the time my sandwich arrived. Now, the bacon was not warm, the toasted bread was also cold. And i don't actually like a BLT made with toast, i prefer it with untoasted bread. This toast had sat around, because it had gone very tough, and the inside of my mouth and inner gums in multiple places is scraped from the sharpness of this toast. I never thought i would say such a thing, did not realise you could cut your mouth on tough toast, but there it is. Like seriously, the length of time i waited, and when it comes, it's cold and tough. I'm actually not very happy to pay fifteen bucks for a disappointing sandwich, and to have my mouth cut, and i told my husband that i won't be coming back here for lunch again. Additionally, he couldn't hear me when we were trying to chat, it is SUPER loud in here. I left the last quarter of my weaponized sandwich, and couldn't wait to be out of there. On the plus side, the sweet roll with butter for $7 is enormous, delicious, and enough for 3 people to share, and goes lovely with a hot drink.

Every time I go to the bake shop something is underwhelming. I've been there twice where the coffee is like water. I paid $3 for water. I feel as if coffee is that one thing you can get right every time. The pancakes, wow, terrible. $10 for creep like pancakes. I just wish there was something better than the eggs and sourdough bread. The sweet roll is dry and lacking that gooey goodness one should have. For a business who has been around for a good while I'd expect them to get the staple items right.

Always have a lovely breakfast at the bakeshop! French toast is super yummy and good size portion as well as the pancakes! I always have leftovers when I go.Vegetarian options: They have a plate-o-potatoe which is a very huge portion and a good vegetarian option.

You're better off staying home and making this stuff there. At least it will be fresh and there will be no rude self absorbed server to waste your time with. I do think they do eye rolls for free. The staff is very adept at that.

Average breakfast food but best option in Girdwood

We were on our way to Seward and stopped for breakfast. The place is a nice, friendly, and rustic space. The indoor area is quite loud because of the kitchen fans and radio, but I guess that adds to the charm. We had the Farmers Breakfast Omelette, which was tasty but looked more similar to a frittata folded in half to us. We also ordered the Summer of 75 Special because I love sourdough (they also sell sourdough loaves). Never had sourdough pancakes before so I had to try them. Unfortunately, it tasted a little off to me and I couldn't finish my meal. But overall, we had a pleasant visit here. It was bustling and I can see how people would enjoy it here.

Who doesn't like bottomless soup!!! The bake shop had a killer deal where you can purchase a bottomless bowl of soup and a bun (which was very large) for I think $11. That's highway robbery in my mind! What a great deal. I personally had the cup of soup and a grilled cheese on sourdough bread. The soup was fantastic and so was the sandwich. My sweet tooth was also calling me after my soup and sandwich so I tried the brownie. Out of this world. Very right in chocolate and hit the spot. The cashier said that they rarely have the brownies out so it was a special. This is a for sure stop if you are in the Girdwood area.

I've driven 40-miles for their breakfast or lunch. Great food. Great service. Sometimes you'll need to wait for a table, or ask to share seats with folks not taking up a whole table. Friendly and fast. Check out their website.

I will quote the local couple sitting next to us in The Bake Shop yesterday "This place has been going downhill for the last couple of years" I couldn't agree more We first ate here in 1989 and it was amazing and stayed that way for years Fast forward to 2022 and the baked goods are stale and mediocre, the food is hit or miss, and the service can be downright surly We were finishing our meal yesterday, which was disappointing, and they decided to close early. An employee came out of the back, where she had been screaming at other employees just a few minutes earlier, and started furiously wiping down tables, benches, and chairs As she finished wiping she LOUDLY slammed the benches and chairs down on the tabletops as if to reinforce the fact they were closed My wife was still eating a couple of minutes later when a different employee came to the table and told us they were closed and we needed to leave No offer to box the food still on my wife's plate Nothing This was when the gentleman next to us, who was obviously appalled by the antics, made his comment about them going downhill I for one am done and won't be back

Awesome staff here, super nice and quick. Delicious hot chocolate and super packed grilled ham sandwiches. Great place! Whipped cream has a maple flavor :)
