The location of this lodge and its surrounding scenery is everything thing you've seen and dreamt about Southeast Alaska - the remoteness, the lush green mountains running down to the passage waters, the whales, seals, sea otters, eagles, and all the fish your arms and gear can handle - extremely alive. And you are right in the midst of it all. The lodge is very well appointed, perfectly comfortable, and the views are bar-none. Everything you could want for a remote lodge experience was at your fingertips. The staff - you couldn't find a finer group of people running a Class-A operation. Polite, courteous, very knowledgeable, attentive, able to carry on good conversation about any topic that may come up. Just good people that you want to be around. The food - exceptional for a remote lodge, many of the offerings hand made from scratch all the way through, and all make you come back for more, no matter how full you think you are. And then there are the boats. One of the key elements of this lodge is the self-guided fishing element. My son and I had the privilege of 6 days of running the Stabi-Craft boats all around the area, catching fish, and taking it all in. The boats are supremely suited for the environment. It rained on us (as it can do in Alaska), we had rough water on some days, and we had cold winds on some days. The cabs make all the difference in the world. We were comfortable and fished confidently through it all. Finally, the fish - they are all around you - pick a direction. That, along with the tips from the crew, and the Garmin electronics - practically make it can't-miss fishing. We've stayed in a number of lodges (one well-known just down the passage) and we've been on a large number of week-long guided wilderness trips. This was a trip with my family I may not ever be able to replicate, and am so thankful the owners and the crew provide us.”
