Nice selection of wines with some good choices on sale.

Shelves are ALWAYS empty. Rarely is there a cashier and the self check helper is always playing on their phone and not helping people. I WILL NOT use the self checkout. If there were another grocery store in town......... we're stuck with Safeway so we're taken advantage of.

Went in to buy beer and wine with my mother, sister and my niece who is 10 years old. My niece touched a strawberry liqueur bottle for about 5 seconds and the cashier went berserk. He kicked my 75 year old mother, sister and my niece out and said they were banned for 24 hours. Not knowing this I proceeded to wait in line for ~10 min only for him to do the same to me since I was “with them”. None of this is based on state law and it was extremely odd. He was very rude as well. I’m not sure if customer service is the right career choice…

We are in Homer on vacation. Stopped to get a couple of items. The cashier BRAEDYN (if that's his name, that is what was on the receipt) could not have been more rude. I bought only two items. He never said a word to us. Couldn't even have the courtesy to tell me the total of my order. Only until I looked over his shoulder to read the amount on the screen behind him, was I able to find out how much cash to give him. He handed me change, no words, no eye contact. Obviously, hating ever minute he was helping us. Even in attempt to get some sort of customer service out of him...saying thank you and have a nice day, he couldn't care less. This person needs some training, a break or at least, an attitude adjustment before he should be allowed to work a register with customers. This is the worst treatment we have ever experienced by a cashier. This should be zero stars for customer service.

We pay for clerks and bags in the cost of every item purchased at a retail establishment. When that establishment no longer provides the services and still charges the premium, it’s time for a change. No clerks to check out and bag my groceries today. I was irritated, then the “helper clerk” in the self check decided to let me know how “easy” self check is. A lesson I did not need or request which did not improve my experience, I kept my temper said have a nice day and left steaming quietly. Decided to write this review. I will take my business where the customer is appreciated and gets the services they are already paying for!

I will no longer be shopping at the Homer safeway store after what happened this evening. Waited patiently in line for 10 minutes for the guest service counter to exchange a propane cylinder. Once at the counter the man behind the register put his pointer finger in the air and said "Not Now!"... I paused puzzled by his condescending tone, then again in a more aggressive tone he points his finger and says " Just WAIT!" . I have literally said nothing at this point, look at the man and say " you know what never mind." on my way out I ask an employee if I can speak with the manager and he points out the man that was so extremely rude. Two other grocery stores in town with far better service in town, I highly recommend avoiding safeway!

I stopped in at 9:40pm on a Tuesday and they stated that since it has been slow that they closed Oaken Keg. They then gave me directions to walk to a different liquor store 15 minutes away through the neighborhood whileIt was dark. This is unacceptable because their hours are inaccurate due to the amount of people coming in to buy booze. Very frustrated.

Do not shop here. My parents 50 years old went in to buy wine and the old grumpy man working on July 30th 2022 5:55 pm would not sell to them. My father had his Id my mother did not, he was purchasing the wine and the old grumpy man wouldn’t sell to them. Then he accused her of possibly having a drinking issue so he wouldn’t to either of them. Ummmmm your not a police officer or Dr. who should be telling anyone they aren’t allowed to purchase alcohol because they might have a history? Your a sales person of Alcohol and you failed miserably!!!!!!! You should be fired!!!! And your also rude !!!

I work in Homer occasionally. Because of my schedule, I'm usually looking to grab food early in the morning or late at night. It used to work out fine. Go in the morning, grab a breakfast burrito or something, a sandwich for lunch, and some snacks. Now, there's nothing available in the mornings. Sometimes a pre made breakfast burrito, but no sandwiches, and the deli counter is only open 10-2. I'm down to buying packaged junk. I'm sure the worker shortage is a big contributor, but if there were any other options, this Safeway would be out of business in no time.

My husband and I stopped to buy a few bottles of wine and some beer for the week while visiting Homer and my 16 year old nephew was with us, who I asked to hold two bottle of wine for me and was next to me the entire time. I went to the register and asked to put them in the counter until my husband finished shopping. Daniel was the cashier and freaked out when he carded my nephew, who said he wasn’t purchasing anything and was with his aunt. I told him my ID was in the car but my husband would be purchasing. He made me get my ID anyway even though my husband was making the purchase and when I came back inside, he had banished my nephew out of the store and refused to sell us anything. My husband and I are both in our 40s so it’s not like we could be mistaken as underage. He got a “manager” Gene who came out and was very abusive and told us to get out. Another man was in the store and WASN’T EVEN WITH US and they kicked him out too for no reason and refused his sale. I will be writing to corporate about this incident and going back today to speak to another manager about the treatment we received and the power trip both Daniel and Gene were on. They shouldn’t be in positions that interact with the public.

Every since they closed down Chinese takeout and other deli spots, the quality went downhill. Specifically talking about how you could get a ton of orange chicken and rice for like $5. They only prepackage food now, so I decided to get one of the few containers out. I had 3 sad pork scraps, dry rice and an "egg roll" that had mold spores growing. But guess what? They lie about the return policy so when you take it back (obviously not to be sold again) they think you are trying to give it back FOR resale. So $11 down the drain and a bad aftertaste. Also the fruit in the produce is old most of the time, with all the greens wilting

The guy at the register had some power trip refusing sale to us because my older friend forgot his ID and wouldn't let his wife buy beer both are obviously of age his wife had her ID and he still refused he also had a picture of his ID on his phone. All he kept saying was "we have liquor laws here" yes we do, which are up to your discretion to reasonably enforce. Unreasonable and poor customer service.

The selection is decent. The prices are a bit on the high side, but what really gets this store a poor rating is the rude customer service. Rude, unfriendly, and unhelpful service.
