Goldbelt Tram in Juneau, Alaska, offers visitors a memorable experience with its six-minute ascent up Mount Roberts from the cruise ship docks to about 1,800 feet elevation. Located just south of downtown and in the big red building at the cruise ship dock, the tram provides spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and the cruise ships below, especially on clear days. The ride itself is smooth and fairly quick, making it a popular activity for cruise passengers and visitors alike. At the top, guests will find a restaurant, a theater, a retail shop, and a nature center, along with trails leading both up and down the mountain. The gift shop offers unique items, including Alaska mint silver coins, which are cheaper than elsewhere in Alaska. Visitors often spot wildlife such as bald eagles perched nearby, adding to the experience. The views from the top are considered “insanely good,” and many find the cost worth the breathtaking scenery. The staff, especially a guide named Harold, received praise for their engaging and fun personalities, enhancing the overall experience. While the restaurant's prices can be high, the stunning vistas and the chance to see wildlife make the Goldbelt Tram a highly recommended activity for those visiting Juneau.

Yes, this is a five star must do in Juneau Alaska. The ride is smooth and fairly quick and the view from the top is spectacular. In addition to the landscape we also got to enjoy a Bald Eagle hanging on the tree top which was eye level to us from the top of the ridge.
