Hy Tech is a unique and rare electronics store in downtown Juneau, described as the Ollivanders of electronics and a treasure trove. The shop is a little cluttered and messy, with a look that some call a hoarder's collection, but it has a certain old town Juneau charm. It is filled with everything from new items like earbuds, chargers, and cables to a great selection of vintage equipment, film cameras, 35mm film, disposable cameras, obscure plugs, converters, and test equipment. The owner has all the knowledge in the world about electronics, like a Yoda master, and somehow knows where everything is. While some note the customer service is interesting and not about bending over backwards, many find him extremely kind, helpful, and fair with prices. He can make something work, help with wiring, and often has exactly what you need when there is absolutely no other place in town to get it. Stores like this are extremely hard to find. It is definitely worth stopping in, so be patient, ask questions, and enjoy digging.
It is my go-to first when I have to look for something I need, instead of going elsewhere. He has alot of accessories that I would need and find in the future!
