Walked into the Artic Spirt Art Gallery while on an Alaskan Cruise, on my Birthday in May 2023. I was completely mesmerized by all the beautiful carved pieces of bears, seals, ducks. and walruses, plus Eskimo masks and carvings in this shop. In addition, I also found a nice collection of Baleen Baskets, which are all Alaskan made! Between May and July, I have purchased more than $4,000 dollars on several of their carved bears, seals and a Baleen Basket. So that will tell you how much I love this shop. You will not find a finer shop specializing in Alaskan art, fossilized walrus carvings and Ivory carvings of all sorts of Alaskan wildlife, done by the finest Alaskan carvers found any where in Alaska. A must stop while you are in Ketchikan, Alaska! I love that town❤️

This store & Mike are beyond great. Such a passion & wealth of knowledge in this gallery that does genuine Northwest Coast & Alaskan Native Art. I wanted to stay longer & talk with Mike & he too wanted me to stay to find out so much history & information on his one of a kind pieces. Sadly I was short of time. I purchased a piece & it came yesterday wrapped with care & in great condition. Wishing this store & Mike all the best.

My husband and I read about the Arctic Spirit Gallery and it’s wonderful owner, Mike, online before our cruise. It was our first planned activity when we arrived in Ketchikan, and our visit to the gallery far exceeded our high expectations. The gallery is full of beautiful pieces of native Alaska art, and Mike spent over an hour educating us on the different types of art and the artists. We learned not only about how the art pieces were created, but also about the the history and geography of where the ivory carvings and whalebone masks came from. We enjoyed learning about the carvers from King Island. We ended up buying a walrus ivory sea otter carving, a whalebone mask, and a totem pole that shows three family clans (eagle - bear - orca). I included pictures of the otter, mask and totem pole below the review. Mike carefully packed and mailed our purchases to us. They arrived in perfect condition with a letter from Mike about each piece and several pages of detailed information about the artists and different types of art. We were so delighted with our purchases that I reached out to Mike, and he was very helpful in sending pictures of other walrus ivory carvings. After looking at pictures and Mike’s advice, we ended up buying a beautiful carving of a walrus (which was mailed to us and you can see in the picture below). We have asked Mike about acquiring another whalebone mask with polar bear fur, which he is going to look for during his next trip to visit the artists. Our visit to Mike’s gallery was a highlight of our Alaska cruise. If you want to learn about Native Alaska Art, then you must visit Mike at the Arctic Spirit Gallery. Valerie

My favorite gallery in Ketchikan. Great Native American Baskets (Baleen), sweet prints (wood blocks) upstairs. Very perceptive management.

My wife and I came to Ketchikan with a goal: bring home some local art. After exploring most of downtown Ketchikan and seeing the same mass-produced items, we wandered into Arctic Spirit Gallery and found exactly what we were looking for. They had a variety of native artwork: totems, woodcarvings, tusk/bone carvings, and art prints. The assortment of prints from multiple artists was great and Michael's explanation of the artists background and the meaning of the animals depicted helped us find the perfect print to bring home. Their prices were fair and devoid of the "ship recommended" markup that many other local stores had. We look forward to hanging up our beautiful new artwork at home and being reminded of our time in Alaska.
